About Me

"The Humane Outreach for Wolves League (HOWL) seeks to protect the wolf species by promoting education and awareness and dispelling popular myths that portray the wolf as an aggressive brute. We also focus on eliminating cruel and unnecessary "population control" methods, and instead look to safe repopulation and redistribution options that allow us to coexist. In doing this, we can rely on the positive effects these creatures have on the environment and economy, thus ensuring a safe ecosystem for our generations to come."

NOTE: I do feel it necessary to state that we in no way endorse breeding wolves as pets. However, there are many programs and sanctuaries that adopt out wolves or wolf mixes that would otherwise be put down. We support these efforts.
Sheep deaths caused by wolves: 0.1%
Wolf deaths caused by humans: 90%

Did you know that it takes 15 wolves to make a single fur coat?
Wikipedia: Basic Wolf FactsThe purpose of our "Models for Wolves" project is to promote the docile nature of wolves, as well as representing the ability of humans and wolves to coexist. Many animal rights activists have expressed their concern about this campaign. It is of my upmost concern to ensure the proper treatment of the wolves in the habitats they are in. All sanctuaries are screened before being approved. I stand beside those who wish to reduce animal cruelty and would never endorse a project that promoted cruelty in any way shape or form. I would not endorse the "use" of any animal for entertainment purposes. Being somewhat "domesticated" as rescues, they actually crave the human interaction and LOVE visitors. Our shots are blindingly obvious parodies of such wolf lore as Little Red Riding Hood and Little Bo Peep to bring to light the ridiculousness of these tales. Believe it or not, these wolves are not trained nor are they asked or expected to pose. They interact freely with the models and the shots that are taken are the wolves being their loving selves. Thus it is not aimed to downplay their nature or their instinct either. The purpose of my approach is to get the attention of a wider range of people, not just those already interested in animal rights. The Models for Wolves shoot is definitely proving to do that and is giving us great opportunities to educate people about wolf conservation and the importance of the wolf.Add us and stay tuned for action alerts for simple ways you can help.
