LIVE IS LIFE! - INTERNATIONAL LIVE AWARD 2008.
Professional showcase possibilities at home and abroad, various offers and chances for young musicians, cultural exchange and prizes of more than 100.000,- Euro for the best music groups of Central Europe.
The "International Live Award" is an event series for bands and individual artists of the newcomer scene. Organized in terms of a competition, local rooted and with international sphere, innovative musicians and their artistic talent will be supported.
This year the biggest Central Europe project in this vein presents itself with participants from Austria, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia and Italy. Around 70 events in 20 notable locations and on 5 festivals are scheduled. Around 1000 applications and 50.000 fans are expected.
Responsible head association and originator is "Vereinigte Österreichische Musikförderer - V.Ö.M." [United Music Promoters Austria], a non-profit institution for promotion and stimulation of the music scene, located in Vienna. In Austria and abroad V.Ö.M is working together closely with local clubs, organizers, agencies and media. This network provides the foundation of the multiplicity of possibilities to support the young musicians.
In addition to the exciting concerts but apart from stage, further activities are put into effect. The offers range from enlistings to CD compilations, interfering of information and contacts, editorial coverage, promotion, education, to the online community of www.liveaward.com. The participants are to deal with the subjects of self presentation and self promotion in word and vision and to get energetic. The organizer delivers an extensive insight into professional music business and is available for advice and help.
Everyone is entitled to participate. There is no application fee, neither an age-limit nor stylistic restrictions. Applications are accepted online on www.liveaward.com. Application deadline is the 31st of July. The preliminary events take place in autumn in the respective countries and then on within the framework of the AUSTRIAN BAND CONTEST quarter finals in the BA-CA-Hall in Viennese Gasometer (big names like OASIS, NINE INCH NAILS, AVRIL ALVIGNE, WHITE STRIPES and many more visit this hall regularly). The Highlight is the big final show on 1st of May, which is a yearly free open air festival with international headliner-acts and thousands of visitors in the Viennese Prater. The best music groups of each country are playing live and will be honoured with the INTERNATIONAL LIVE AWARD (endowed with 10.000,- Euro), the respective NATIONAL AWARD and prizes worth more than 100.000,- EURO.

* PRESENTATION
Our priority is the international presentation of the best music groups of the in- and foreign countries to give a genre- and border crossing insight into the work of the Middle European Newcomer Scene.
* PRIZES
The music groups are encouraged with numerous prizes worth more than 100.000,- EURO (equipment, studio productions, CD- and video productions, instruments, etc).
* FUN
Live-presentation of the own music group in front of a big audience, under professional conditions, about the fun of participating and about "seeing and being seen".
* PRODUCTION
Studio-, CD- and videoproductions are given to the the best music groups. Furthermore the CD compilation series "INTERNATIONAL LIVE AWARD presents EUROPE´S CALLING" with its 18 international tracks has started on november 7th 2006.
*EXCHANGE
The cultural exchange should support the Newcomer Scene of all participating countries. Exchange concerts, further performances and festival slots are organized (e.g. Sziget festival in Budapest, Viennese "Donauinselfest", School´s Out festival in Italy, Metalcamp in Slovenia, etc).
* EXPERIENCE
The music groups get important experiences - on stage and behind. There´s a possibility to make international comparisons for the musicians.
* SUPPORT
The musicians are confirmed in practice of their artistic work and supported in word and deed. Subsequent support for outstanding music groups. International prospects.
* NETWORK
Contact and experience exchange with bands, event managers/agencies and media from the different countries.
*PROMOTION
Due to landspreading concerts and our promotional work, we help the groups to make the first step to rise to a degree of international awareness.
* PUBLICITY
We feature all participating bands, the results and information in the PLANET MUSIC magazine (circulation: 165.000, distributed in Austria) and on the website www.liveaward.com. Local and national media in Austria and its neighbouring countries receive press messages and information. Further cooperations with our media partners are guaranteed.
* APPLICATION
There is NO registration-fee. You can even earn money! The music groups have a share in the advanced sales income with 50%. Everyone is entitled to participate. There are neither an age-limit nor regional or stylistic restrictions.
* BONUS
Music groups which are playing in the first viennese preliminary rounds in august get an "early starter bonus" of 100,- EURO.
Music groups from more far away regions get a "bus allowance" of adjusted value for travelling to the Viennese quarter finals with a fan bus.
* FAIRNESS
Fair chances by common valuation of a competent jury and the audience.
* ATMOSPHERE
No stop-watch while playing, community instead of rivalry, mutual respect and appreciation, best festival atmosphere
