After several years of looking to outside joust troops to perform in Des Moines and surrounding areas, finally we will have our own home grown joust team, started right here in Iowa. Comprised of talent from the local area, and anchored by a long-time veteran of both the New Riders of the Golden Age and the Hanlon Lee’s Action Theatre, Kevin Coble, AKA Sir Mathew Devon, this team will bring jousting to new levels.
Among the first recruits are local Des Moines Arthur Smith, who has performed for several years with the SCA (Society for Creative Anachronism) and has practical experience through his membership there. With eight years of performance experience in a variety of national venues, our director has performed for that last four years in Amana colonies, Des Moines and Omaha. Kevin brings a passion for creativity, and having written, developed and directed many shows, he plans to bring about an evolution to the world of jousting. Having performed both in a full contact style and a theatrical style of jousting, he will combine the two into a new and exciting show. Kevin promises a hard hitting, story driven, action packed show, guaranteed to be full of surprises.
We hope that this area will welcome the troop as their own. With the support of the community, and the talent and potential that this team has, it could grow to rival the top teams in the country.
