Terry Smith started playing drums in 1977 and by the time he was 20 he had found the love of his life.....HELICON. Terry played in Helicon from 1980 to 1984 and played in about every venue in Detroit. He has lived in South West Detroit for most of his life but also spent a few years in Kentucky. While down south he played in Hit and Run from 1988 through 1992; and in Jack Brown & Stallion from 1993 to 1996. When he returned to Detroit he was picked up by The Hellcats, a Rockabilly unit that quickly rose to local fame earning a nomination as Best New Band by Metro Times in 2000. Although he has not been idle since the 2001 breakup of The Hellcats he has not been active in Detroits scene until February 2006 when he contacted the members of Helicon for a possible reunion. The reunion had been talked about for years but never materialized. This time everything clicked, due in no small part to heart and soul of Helicon which resides right smack dab in Terry Smith's chest. A charter member of the band Terry plays Ludwig drums, Sabian Cymbals, and Vic Firth sticks. Helicon - Run Out of Rails
