About Me

My name's Adrian, 28 years old, life-long musician & native Texan. Born & raised in San Angelo, I started playing guitar when I was five years old (although there are pictures of me playing along to Kenny Rogers records as early as two). I then picked up the violin when I was 11. That was also about the time I got my first pair of drumsticks & they beat my violin into the ground. Mostly because it didn't rock. Things haven't been the same since. I spent the next seven years begging my parents for a real drumset because playing on pillows, pots & pans had all but lost its charm. Finally, as a high school graduation present, I received my first drumkit which I immediately commenced to beat mercilessly. Slowly but surely defining my own style in various bands in San Angelo & Dallas, I set foot into a studio for the first time & recorded an EP, then gave it up for about a year to attend college. Realizing what a mistake I had made in giving up the only thing I knew & loved, I quit school & jumped right back into music. I've been playing drums for 18 years & been doing music for 11 years now. My drum style could be defined as follows: the showmanship of Tommy Lee, the ferocity & perseverance of Vinnie Paul, the power of John Bonham & the finesse of Carter Beauford. I've literally done it all from country to metal & everything in between.

My Interests

I'm a big supporter of the Austin music scene, no matter what genre. Working out, outdoors in Austin during the summer, hiking the greenbelt, biking Town Lake, getting tattooed, photography, bar-b-cues & just plain having a good time, shooting pool, dreaming of being on the beach.

Texas Country: George Strait, Dale Watson, Jason Boland; Meagan Tubb, Jane Bond & Chad Tracy, Lucinda Williams, Chip Taylor & Carrie Rodriguez; Mazzy Star; The Mighty Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, The Doors; I love anything 80's glam metal: The CRUE, Ratt, Skid Row, Poison, Great White, G'n'R', Bulletboys, etc.; Pantera, Damageplan, Rebel Meets Rebel, SRV, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains & a host of local bands. Pretty much anything but rap.

Television:

I'm a total fiend for shows about history, evolution, space & time travel on the National Geographic, Science & History channels. Basically I do my best to avoid any shitty reality show. But you also can't beat a good Behind the Music. Or the Arena Rock Channel.

Books:

Dirty Sally - A police crime novel set in 1988 Austin,Tx. Written by former Austinite Michael Simon.

Heroes:

Musicwise: George Strait - the king of Texas country. Also Tommy Lee, John Bonham, Vinnie Paul, Dimebag Darrell Abbott (RIP).- Leonardo Da Vinci: the more I learn about him the more I think there's nothing a single human being cannot accomplish. -Carole Denisse: my cousin who died at the age of 32 from breast cancer.- William H.
