About Me
Pure Gold knew at a young age she wanted to sing and perform, quickly getting involved with the choir and performing arts at her school and involving herself in shows, plays and Radio Broadcasts, at her school and around the country, even playing Titana in 'A Mid Summer Nights Dream'. Pure Gold began her musical career soon after in London in the early 80's, doing backing vocals for a variety of local groups, quickly speading her vocal talents across the UK, Europe and Jamaica. By doing this work she grew from strength to strength gaining essential experience working at many prestigious studios in the UK and abroad, which lead to Pure Gold writing enough material to produced her debut album ‘You light up my life’ which was released in 1995 and distributed by Jet Star Phonographics.
Recognition of her musical talents lead to her working with Ras Ibuna and Azania on the 'Musical Expressions' album, Love was all I need, on the Fu-Manchu label and on many other productions. Pure Gold has worked with some of the greatest musicians, producers and engineers ie Victor Cross, Eddie Williams, Earl 'China' Smith, Bunny McKenzie, Horsemouth, Scully, Andy 'Alien' King, Grammy award winner Barry O’Hare, Mafia & Fluxy, Steely, Kenton ‘Fish’ Brown (Bass player for world renown roots reggae band Rough Cutt) and others.
Pure Gold has an extensive backing vocals track record both in the UK and abroad working with Boney M, The Cimerons, Sidney Crooks, members of Matumbi and Misty in Roots, Sister Rashida, Louisa Marks, Earl 16, Ernest Rangling, Steven Stanley, Colin 'Bulby' York , Mike 'King Speckles' McKenzie (drummer for world renown roots reggae band Culture), Beezy Coleman and various world class musicians, producers and engineers.
Pure Gold is destined to produce many more tracks in her subtle smooth Reggae style with Soulful overtones.
Pure Gold would like to use this opportunity to thank all singers, players of instruments, producers, family, friends and supporters she has met along her journey, who have strengthened her in more ways than one, to enable her to become the lady she is today. You know who you are.
