Biography of Dahlia Ashley
Dahlia, born on the 16th day of September in the wonderful, splendid and beautiful island of Jamaica, by the lovely Una and Glen Ashley at the Spanish Town Hospital. Growing up she went to local schools and churches where she participated and played great rolls in. At about the age of three, Dahlia started taking her mother's crockery from the chest of drawers along with anything that she could use to mimic a microphone on which she jammed and sang tunes which were maybe like 5 or 10 yrs older than her. As she grew older her voice certainly grew with her and she was placed in the children’s choir and from there to the youth choir and even better she became the lead singer and the rest was history from there on. She has shared stages with some of the greatest entertainers and singers such as: Chevelle Franklin, Lt. Stitchie, Joan Flemmings, Sandra Brooks, Marvia Providence, Shelly Thunder, Prodigal Son, Second Chance, D.J Ordinary, Papa San, Mr. Goddy Goddy, Flames of Glory, Fred Hammond, Glenn Washington and many others.
She also participated in the South Florida Star Search hosted by Emillo Estefan (The husband of Gloria Estefan) and was placed third in the competition, she further went on to Caribbean Idol where she was very victorious. Dahlia was also one of the 180 contestants who made it to the American Idol finals in Hollywood where she was judged by the great and cruel Simon Cowell who said that she can sing and she's pretty. Through these great achievements Dahlia stays humble to the one who sits high and looks low as she quotes “I'm nothing without god, in him I move, eat, live and I can do nothing without himâ€. Her aim and determination is to be one of the world's greatest Gospel Icon phenomenon in which people will be saved through her ministry. Look out for her currently released single, “Hold My Handsâ€. May your hearts be filled with God's love and blessings, keep her in your prayers. God Bless.
