THE SPLINTS

About Me

THE SPLINTS is a fugitive musical vessel sheltering meta-human like life forms. Formed in the waning days of the millennium (ca. 1991), THE SPLINTS' checkered past precedes itself. The initial seventeen-piece, surf/polka band's flourishing career of command performances for international dignitaries at exclusive luncheons was cut short when the ranks were thinned by a horrific series of mishaps related to unlawful use of aquarium decor. Out of the ashes (or shall we say, lava) of the so-called "bubblin' skin diver incident", THE SPLINTS mach 2 arose.Myspace Graphics

My Interests

Music:

Band Members: GLYDA
On rhythm guitar and vocals, GLYDA has forged a signature sound based on equal parts Texas leather and floral print. GLYDA (who incidentally holds the Yavapai County record for the most Javalinas lassoed in a 24-hour period) has got the guitar skank, strum and rhythm down cold.SQUADCAR RED
SQUADCAR RED, the newest addition to THE SPLINTS family, attributes his unusually sophisticated Xyphoid Processes to the playing of the electric mandolin. SQUADCAR has transcended superhero status to become the keeper of JamBand melody lines in this musical franchise.VELVA
VELVA, exactly like his namesake, creates carefully controlled chaotic counerpoint on the electric and accoustic drums with such alarming and lilitaristic precision that he is known as the band's resident mad scientist/crash test dummy. VELVA is the shepard for the spiritual cornerstone of the band, the Andre the Giant sticker located on the bumper of the rare and collectable 1987 Nissan Sentra hatchback edition.MR. MERIWETHER MOTH
MR. MERIWETHER MOTH is responsible for pumping the drgaon's deep low breath through the enormous, muscular musical ribcage of the band's undercarriage. He emits root tones and howls of tonics and supersonics through his fretless bass guitar. Possessing calluses of inordinate thickness and a prehensile, formaldehyde-cured tail squirreled away in his bass case, MR. MOTH is a man who knows not the fear of light.
Influences:
Sounds Like: Short well-rehearsed tunes containing catchy melodies with the occasional jam thrown in amongst 85% originals and 15% sing along cover tunes. Lots of positive vibe and absurd humor that blurs the line between participant and reveler.
