About Me

I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4 Melanie Sue Mausser is a singer-songwriter whose music is embedded in the rural roots traditions she grew up with.Wanting only to write simple songs that reflect the simple things of life, Melanie has recently traded in a life of Arizona cowboys and Jack Daniels for Iowa farmboys and Bud Light. Her attempts to convey sarcasm and wit, as well as mildly present depressing theses on the nature of love and bad relationships have so far met with excellent response from audiences throughout the Midwest and West.Born and raised in Iowa, Melanie began classical piano training at the age of four and picked up guitar in her early 20s. Songwriting began as a form of therapy following a bad breakup in Florida in which her ex-boyfriend decided to move across the street from her with a new girl two weeks following their lovers' demise. From there her music career began. Melanie doesn't want to pretend to be anything she's not anymore so she hopes only that her music is seen by fans as beautiful and real. As she grows into her 30-year old skin and sheds the layers of insecure adolescence and early adulthood, she vows from now on to write songs that are heartfelt and honest, even if a bit goofy and few and far between, as long as they are never trite. Her first CD, "Cadillac Daddy" is now available at CD Baby.

The Last Photograph

I found this old poem on a disk given to me by my ex-boyfriend of things on his computer.  One day I looked at a picture he had taken of his ex-girlfriend and felt compelled to this.   The L...

I always feel like I should post blogs when I get home from gigs instead of the morning after.  Driving home, under the inky perforated skies a million brilliant thoughts come to me.  The mo...

The Crisis Continues

Today I quit my job at the factory.  I was tired of being bitched out for doing nothing right and I pounded my right hand knuckle three times with a hammer (hard) yesterday.  Tiny circles of...

Factory Girl

So I've started a pre midlife-crisis job at a toy tractor factory for some extra dough during the Christmas season.  Let me just say it makes me hate kids.  What the hell do people under 3 f...
