About Me

My name is Glen Archer from Fort Madison, Iowa. Fort Madison is located in the SE Part of Iowa, along The Mississippi River. I was born in Chicago, IL and also raised in Ottumwa, Iowa (Home of Actor Tom Arnold) and Kahoka, Missouri. I share the same birthday with "The Terminator." I graduated from Clark County H.S. in Kahoka, in 1982.
I spent 10 years in the Air Force (1982-1992). Stationed in California, Nebraska, and Guam. I was an Honor Guard for 2 1/2 years. I worked with the Secret Service during Queen Elizabeth's visit to Yosemite Nat'l Park in 1983. During the Gulf War, I worked at the Strategic Air Command HQ in the Command Center, providing support for the SAC Staff.
After 13 years working for General Electric, I got laid off. Hope to be back to work by late Summer/early Fall at the latest.
I'm married and have two kids. I'm also a grandpa. My wife's name is Cathy. I have a 22 year old daughter, Amy, from a previous marriage and I'm on my 2nd fatherhood with a 3 year old son, Gavin. My granddaughter's name is Zoey and is in her Terrible 2's. My grandson, Zaiden, was born in October.
Gavin has Emanuel Syndrome, which is a chromosome 22 disorder (www.c22c.org). He has some problems, but he's the sweetest boy. He's definitely a daddy's boy. He has low muscle tone, so at this time, he's not able to walk. He is in a wheel chair, but it's only temporary. We're working on things, and he's progressing each day. His name means "Little Hawk." Which is appropriate, as he spent his first two weeks of his life at the Children's Hospital of Iowa at the University of Iowa Hospitals, home of the Iowa Hawkeyes. He may have his deficiencies, but he'll never be deficient in love.
I love all types of music, primarily country music. I'm a published songwriter. I have a lot of respect for other singers, songwriter's, and musician's. So sometimes I tend to undersell my ability. I've helped other singer's and songwriter's and some are on their way of making their dreams come true. I'm laid back, easy going, have a big heart, so I usually help other's more than I help myself. It's not easy, but I wouldn't want to be any other way. I have a neighbor, Pap, that's a major Nashville Songwriter. He's written for hundreds of artists, including Toby Keith, and John Michael Montgomery. If it wasn't for Pap, Tim McGraw would've left town and headed back to Louisiana.
I'm also a big MONTGOMERY GENTRY fan. If you're a fan, you're a friend. I plan on being a friend for life. I have to say they're my favorite country artists at the moment. I have an MG story that I shared in my blog. I was invited to Nashville by MG for the taping of "CMT's Outlaws" concert a few years ago. Clips from the show were used for MG's "Gone" video. It was a great time.
I'm a LUCKY MAN as I have SOMETHING TO BE PROUD OF, so WHAT DO YA THINK ABOUT THAT?
I'm also a big sports fan. I'm a Chicago Cub's, Kansas City Chief's, and Iowa Hawkeye's fan.
