My Interests

My main passion in life is film, which has inspired me to become a writer and film maker. My fave type of films are Horror and Fantasy, although I do enjoy watching Sci-Fi and cheesey action movies. I'm also a big fan of asian horror and fantasy. Plus I love 80's comedy movies. They just can't seem to get them right these days... I'm an avid reader, my home being filled to capacity with hundreds of books. I also enjoy drawing, painting and creating models and sculptures.

I love Art Nouveau and Art Deco. Fantasty art and psychadelic art. Some of my fave artists are Mucha, Rene Magritte, Salvadore Dali, HR Giger, Basil Gogos, Brom. I also love old movie poster art, anything from the 1980's to the 1920's. Movie posters these days just all look the same. You very rarely come across something that really stands out or has an individual style to it.

I also collect a lot of original movie posters and film memorabilia.

For the most part, I say that the major infulences on my film making style are Gothink horror, you know the old black and white classics. Italian horror such as those directed by Lucio Fulci, Dario Argento, Mario Bava, Jess Franco. And yes, my all time fave Jean Rollin. I love his work dearly and think that he is a master film maker. All of these and others have given me a great deal of insipration.

I also enjoy watching animated films and Japanese Anime, I love animated films especially stop-motion model animation and claymation. I'm also a big fan of Japanese and Asian monster films or kaiju, especially Godzilla and Gamera.

Music:

I have a varied taste in music which depends on what I'm doing at the time. I like blues, jazz, metal, industrial, classical, electric, alternative, and I also collect a huge amount of film soundtracks too.

Television:

I hardly watch broadcast TV or cable. What usually happens is I may catch the odd episode of some such TV series and if I like it I'll just pick it up on dvd when I see it for a really cheap price. Here are some of my faves that I really enjoy. Some are old shows and some are new: Buffy The Vampire Slayer, Babylon 5, The Shield, The X-Files, Millennium, Starsky and Hutch, The League of Gentlemen, Black Books, Samurai Jack, Doctor Who, Red Dwarf, Columbo, Carnivale, Lexx, 4400, The Tripods, Family Guy, Project Greenlight, Monkey, Jim Henson's Storyteller, The Muppet Show, Buck Rogers, some Star Trek, Masters Of Horror, Battlestar Galactica original series and new series, Twin Peaks, Farscape.

Yea, I know, it's a pretty eclectic selection

Books:

I love to read. Mainly Horror, Dark Fantasy, Crime and History books. Sometimes I'll read the odd bit of Sci-Fi too. Some of my fave writers are: HP Lovecraft, Stephen King, Brian Lumley, Clive Barker, David Gemmell, Joe R. Lansdale, John Connelly, James Patterson, Peter F. Hamilton, Tolkien, Kim Newman, China Mieville, Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman, Garth Nix, Jonathan Stroud, and lots more!

I also read and collect a lot of comics too. Way too many to list here.
