The Moon is in trouble. Most people are not aware that the moon has been a "punching bag" for asteroids and other dangerous space debris for many millions of years. Sometimes these asteroids greatly change the surface of the moon itself and some scientists aver that there is a small chance that many more millions of years of destructive impacts on the surface of the moon could possibly work toward it's ultimate destruction. We are an organization that is working to change global policy in it's attitude about the moon. Most governments and countries (and many people too) take the moon largely for granted, while it is truly one of our great natural resources. Here is a following list of some of the important things the moon does every day:1. It controls tides, creating high and low tides worldwide. Ships sail best at high tide.
2. It is how we generate our system of time in cycles of the full moon (along with other factors)
3. It keeps PMS in women on an even cycle (Imagine!!!)
4. More babies are born during a full moon.
5 It helps us to calculate when Easter happens (the first Sunday after a certain full moon)
6. It probably does many other things as wellAlso, it is a large part of our culture and heritage. It plays a vital role in mythology:1. Diana, goddess of the moon would be meaningless.
2. The man in the moon.
3. Wherewolves.
4. Many cultures have moon rituals.
5. In Wicca, the moon is special in some way. Many popluar songs would also be meaningless to future audiences:1. Fly me to the moon.
2. Paper moon.
3. Walking on the moon.
4. Moon River.
5. Moondance.
6. Blue Moon.
7. The list goes on and on...Many things would be effected by the loss of the moon. Children of future generations would surely be cheated if we did not work to insure the moon's presence in our sky.We are working to encourage scientists to find comprehensive solutions to protect the moon from further possible damage. You can help too. Please feel free to contact us here and we will let you know when we are holding events in your area. Thank you for your interest in our nearest and second most important celestial body.Because "It's not just the moon, it's our moon"
