Roaring out of the Highlands of Scotland in the early 90s, a juvenile Skempling cut his teeth playing around the pubs and clubs of the Glasgow scene with bands like The Big Red Rockeaters, the Hamiltones, the Coconut Dog and My Favourite Sneakers. After an extended hiatus where he surfed a little bit, unravelled a little bit and generally improved his inner-self, a more fully rounded Skempleton has emerged with a new set up, new songs, even newer instruments and a brand new name. Now settled in the NE of England, Skempleton, or Skemps as he's known to his friends, makes music in the spare bedroom of his quiet country cottage in the Durham countryside. Adopted by a local tribe of magpies, he makes the fortnightly pilgrimage to St James's Park to watch the mighty Toon take on all comers. They say talent borrows, but genius steals. By this measure, Skemps is surely one of the cleverest people around, as he's rarely had a good idea of his own. Learning from his magpie friends he has blatently half-inched the best bits from all his favourite bands and made a sound all of his own. With this we welcome BRUISER to our collective consciousness.
