For the Future!

About Me

I am a divorced father with three kids. I have a son who just turned 27 and two daughters 24 and 9 years old. My son is in the army and has a 5 year old daughter. Yes, I got started young...I grew up on a farm on Sand Mountain in Marshall County Alabama. I joined the Army which stationed me at Fort Bragg North Carolina, and then Fort Greely Alaska. I then earned an engineering degree at the University of Alabama in Huntsville (UAH). I’ve went from the farm and working in a cotton mill to the army and on to aerospace. I guess that makes me a ‘Hi-Tech Redneck!’ Well just to prove that I am indeed and internationaly recognized ‘Hi-Tech Redneck’ check out this link: http://www.samizdata.net/blog/archives/2006/11/the_first_spa ce.htmlI like to cook, dance, and enjoy romantic diners. I enjoy going to movies and watching videos at home. I love the outdoors, especially hiking and camping. I like to cookout. I also like to hit the backroads to do some sight seeing. I can hang out in the mountains or on the beach. I ride a bicycle, so I have plenty of stamina! I am an affectionate caring kind of guy. I offer quality time to the lucky lady who wins my attention. I do a lot of reading. Mostly as research for some writing projects.Size does matter, I have a big heart and a small ego. I work hard and am playfull too.If you want to know more about me just use your favorite search engine and look for my name Greg Allison as a phrase and the word space to filter out all the other Greg Allisons. My Interests

One of my previous hobbies was high powered rocketry. This got pretty crazy. We took our rockets out over the ocean on a large balloon up to 100,000 feet and launch them by remote control. We made the Guinness Book of World Records 2000 Millennium edition for one we launched in '97 (but they got it wrong and said we launched it in '98). LOL! My group is the Huntsville Alabama L5 Society (HAL5) and the project is High Altitude Lift-Off (HALO). You'll find us on page 183 of the silver Millennium edition of the Guinness Book in the lower left corner.W e spun off a company, the High Altitude Research Corporation (HARC), and went out into the Gulf of Mexico on large boats to launch the balloons which ferried the rockets into the stratosphere before we lit them. Our last rocket was 17 foot 4 inches tall. You'll see pictures of some of this in my pics section. I was the president of both HAL5 and HARC. That was a lot of fun!Today I am the Executive Vice President of the National Space Society (NSS), and Chairman of the NSS Policy Committee. My day-job is a contractor position at NASA working on vehicles to take us back to the moon and beyond.I care about the future of mankind and life on this beautiful planet. I am doing everything I can to ensure that we all live long and prosper. I lobby congress for our future and am writing a book about the potential destinies of humanity.Beyond that I still find time to have fun.

I'd like to meet:

Someone to share special times with. I am looking for someone who is not into head games and can be honest.Notes on posting comments to my page. I love to hear from my friends and really appreciate artistic comments. However if you want to post coments about ringtones, earning money taking online surveys, Dream Again, dating sites, or anything containing hyperlinks it is my policy to not accept those comments. Don't take it personal. It is just my way of mitigating the risk of exposing myself and my friends to Phishing. If that is what you want to post save yourself the trouble. Otherwise, I'd love to hear from you! Greg

Music:

Everything from blue grass to metal. I like Lester and Flatt, Bill Monroe, Hank Jr. Lynard Skynard, The Doors, KISS, and Black Sabath. I mostly listen to classic rock.

Movies:

I like action movies and some comedy. I especially like movies with a surprise ending. I also like movies with historical settings. I like the Bond series, Oh Brother Where Art Thou, The Emerald Forest, and classics such as It’s a Good Life.

Television:

I like documentaries and news programs. My favorites are the History Channel and the Discovery Channel. Sometimes I watch Desperate Housewives, 24, Lost, and Boston Legal. I like the PBS series Discovering Alabama.

Books:

I read everything written by Vince Flynn. He writes a good series of political action thrillers. I read books about the environmental and energy challenges and books about how to use the resources of space to get us beyond these challenges. I have been accused of trying to save the Earth! Gee - what's so bad about that?
