About Me
RUIN is currently searching for a guitarist and/or a drummer, spread the word and get back to us, auditions will be held on tuesdays, thursdays, and sundays.
From within the depths of the Northern Dutchess County forestry, dwells 5 musicians whom came together with one purpose. Through constant lineup changes and mindful music development, RUIN was born with the intention of bringing people together while playing aggressive music. Although new to the scene, each members’ experiences, musicianship, and long-term dedication drive RUIN to impact the masses, and leave a mark on this genre’s timeline.
RUIN’s performances started on February 3rd 2007 on the small platform at Savannah’s Bar, located in Albany NY. RUIN was involved in a battle -of- the -bands type competition called the Emergenza Festival, in which the first show was an explosion of brutality and in- your- face showmanship. For the first time seeing RUIN, the 518 district seemed pretty impressed and fully supported the young project by purchasing their barely afforded stash of t-shirts and a majority vote count placing RUIN in 1st place at both the first and semi final competitions. Before the night of the finals, vocalist Matt Szymanski(former singer of UNBALANCED) left RUIN to take control of his personal obligations, leaving RUIN to perform with a last minute replacement Floyd Frederick of Damnaged Productions, whom literally locked himself in the venues bathroom going over the lyrics. After the finals, RUIN retreated from the competition to focus more on their music and preparing for the next set of shows. Through constant auditions and gradual loss of hope, current vocalist Duane Palmatier(former singer of Effigy) was able to provide RUIN with a new force of momentum and direction. Finally as a solid line-up, RUIN was able to finish their EP at Millbrook Sound Studios with engineer and producer Paul Orifino.
RUIN has shared the stage with great acts like TESTAMENT, and NILE, along with all the other great local metal bands that they have met along the way, which inturn developed a humbled and respected outlook on the scene. Trying to give back to the fans, RUIN decided to build a stage behind their practice studio, and threw a huge pig roast/chilli cookoffwhich became known as RUINFEST. Then in October, RUIN announced RUINFEST II: The Brawl in the Fall, which included a lot more food, a lot more alcohol, and a costume contest.
A lot has happened within their first year of reign, but nevertheless, their legend making journey continues.../style
