About Me
I thought that I would make this bit a little more personal than what it was, so that you all could get to know me a little better.
I'm a half Sioux Indian that was taken away from my parents at just over two years old and raised by far too many strangers. As a result of this, I have traveled all over the United States, Canada, Europe and Southeast Asia, but now I reside in a small town in the Southeast of England.
I was able to combine my passion for music and travel when I was given the opportunity as a teenager to go on tour as a roadie with Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet band, along with the Eagles, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young and a few others. This resulted in inflaming my love of singing, song writing and eventually playing the guitar. However being very young and dumb at the time, I opted out of music for a career in the Army which took me to even more distant places. As one of the youngest Viet Nam Vets and one of the last soldiers to leave that country, I figured that my future was set in stone, so to speak, but this wasn't to be the case. Trouble followed me around throughout my life in one way or another until five years in the Army was finally enough. Afterwards, I drifted here and there, eventually spending far too much time in some very dark place's with no hope of ever seeing the light again. Then just over three and a half years ago I met a woman that I fell so madly in love with, it changed me and my life forever. Sharon saw something in me that I thought I had lost all those years ago and she gave me reason to believe in myself again. So, I started writing new songs and learned how to play the guitar, and quickly developed a style of my own, that spans Country, Rock, Blues and old time rock and roll in to "Americana".
I'm told that my "Rich, deep vocals and lyrics brought straight from the heart makes for a timeless combination to be enjoyed by everyone young or old". We finally recorded an album over a period of about ten months that I have named "Native Son" with ten original songs and a cover tune by Charlie Daniels called "Longhaired Country Boy" and people that hear it tell me that they play it over and over again, every track is different and every track is about my life at one time or another. so I guess it's a pretty good album really, and it still amazes me that I can sing the way that I do now. Which is of course what I plan to do with the rest of my life. I am costantly writting new songs and learning others. I have a repetoir of over two hundred songs now from Guns and Roses to Johnny Cash. Led Zeplin to Bette Midler, Elvis to Oasis and all points in between.
I would like to say a few special thank you’s. Firstly to Bill Oddie who took time out of a busy filming schedule to place his indelible and much needed mark on "Long Haired Country Boy". We just hope the Lesser Spotted Shag didn’t mind sharing him with us, we couldn't have done it without him, (we mean Bill not the Shag ) and if it’s ok with Britain's wildlife……...Please can we borrow him again. Also a big thank you to Damon Butcher who somehow managed to squeeze our project in between the European and Stateside legs of his tour with the Beautiful South. We love what you have done Damon and can’t thank you enough. Another big thank you to our great friend Robert Greenfield who is an extremely talented Producer, Arranger and Guitarist. Robert has encouraged and supported me every step of the way whilst giving me much needed guidance and expertise throughout.
Robert I thank you from the bottom of my heart. I also want to thank Kev Taylor formally with the Anti-no-where league and now with Vice Squad for some great drumming, Kevin you are simply the best drummer that I have ever known. I also thank Mark Aldam for his drum parts right at the begining of this project, Jessie Greenfield and Gavin Conder for their great Backing Vocals. Many thanks to Ant Wellman for his exellent work on all those bass guitars, my daughter Holly, for taking care of this page so diligently, Guy Denning at the Granary Studio's in Kent, Robert King of Znoise in London, Bill Warwicker, at Bewel Digital and finally, the woman of my life Sharon Walton, for all of her love, devotion and support throughout the years. Cheers to you all guys, we couldn't have and wouldn't have done it without you.
