Born in May of 1973, Neal Schendel began his study of music in 1982. Over the years Schendel's style would develop into a mixture of world, new age, blues, and jazz. As an instrumentalist Schendel has written many soundscapes that are very visual and dreamlike. Accented by jazz undertones, interval-jumping bass lines and brilliant interpertation of comparsa and jazz beats Neal's music is a cinema of memories and exploration. For the past decade Neal has been involved in martial arts. Mainly in the arts of kung fu and iai-do (the way of the japanese sword). The evolution of Neal's abilities in martial arts had propelled him into a life-style similar to that of the samurai. This life consists of harmony with nature, constant training, the mindset toward the bushido code and buddhist philosophy. Elements of his way of life are ingrained in his music styles that give the listener a sense of calm and balance. Careening, active and triumphant would be an appropriate identification with Neal Schendel's music.

This is an illustration which was completed by a young artist named Sheena Schmitt from Kaukauna, Wisconsin. I had found her working at Barnes & Noble in Appleton, Wisconsin. Sheena is a young graduate with a degree in art. The subject is a snowflake being caught in the wake of a spiral galaxy. It spins retrograde as the galaxy entangles with it. This symbolizes how the forces of the universe intertwines with all occurances and balances all events.Thank You, Sheena.
