The Movement New Bedford at Groovalicious Lounge! The Movement was born out of the spirit of collaboration amongst Cape Verdean artists who are exploring new directions in the criolo sound. It is a musical revolution that aims to bridge the gap amongst the generations, nations, islands and languages of Cape Verdeans across the world and draw attention to the issues that affect our communities and communities of other African and African descendent people in the world. Inspired by Cape Verde’s own revolution, The Movement, seeks to engage Cape Verdeans to take an active role in the positive development of nos terra.Gathering artists from various locations and joining them with Cape Verdean communities across the diaspora, The Movement kicks off on December 2, 2006, in Newark, New Jersey, at Club CV also know as Sporte Clube Mindelense. Starring D. Lopes, Tem Blessed, Chachi, Shokanti, Afrika Rainbow and DJ Lefty of Lights Out DJs, the show will be the first in a tour of the diaspora. The event features an open mic session for emcees and poets who want to showcase their talents. Through hip-hop and reggae, the artists tackle issues that face our community with a positive approach and a conscious mentality. As part of The Movement’s commitment to raising consciousnesses and in support of our young people, the artists will donate all the proceeds from the sale of a special edition CD towards a scholarship benefiting a student from each show location. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx xxxxO Movimentu nasci di un sprito di kolaborason entre artistas kabo Verdianos ki ta esplora novos direson na som kriolo.
