Kalipssus
Born, raised in and hailing from Medellin, Colombia, Mighty Kalipssus is the definition of Struggle & Survival. Growing up in a country ridden with corruption, Kalipssus faced many challenges while in the streets of his home city. Losing some of his closest friends to the shady underworld of crime, he then turned to Reggae and the Christian Orthodox Church for salvation and made a vow never to make the same mistake. What followed was his path of self discovery, enlightenment and the beginning of his passion in Music which led him to embracing the Rastafar-I way of life.
His musical career began in the early 90’s as a Sing Jay, representing the Hip-Hop movement while building his musical identity through many MC Battles. As he continued to study the roots, truth and history of mankind, his sense of spirituality grew stronger. In 2004, he released his first demo entitled ‘Warrior Ina Babylon’, alongside L-Mental, a Rap Producer from Medellin. After several tracks, Mighty Kalipssus began collaborating with Alfredo MC to bring together their strong lyrics in a unified message depicting the struggle of the people against the system foundation and the social conflicts in Colombia.
After several recordings, Mighty Kalipssus went on to enhance his solo career, refining his style and redefining his musical perceptions to embrace all the elements of the Hip-Hop culture. Coupled with his knowledge of the Pan-African past, the Afro-Colombian artistic roots, not to mention his strong Faith and will to succeed, Mighty Kalipssus set to blaze every mic he graced and any stage he stepped on.
In mid 2006, through the music site MySpace, Moe of Introspective Records’ from Canada, discovered this bright and gifted talent, reached out to Mighty Kalipssus and immediately began collaborating on several tracks. Since that day, Moe has seen Kalipssus grow both as a man, a human being and as an Artist. Today, even though they are in two different hemispheres, seemingly worlds apart, they share the pain of their respective politically unstable countries and the vision for peace to be restored. Their struggles have helped them to create musical masterpieces, connect on very deep spiritual levels and foster a movement of positive and peaceful people known as “Famila Univerzel--â€.
In short, from the ashes of poverty, oppression and injustice rose a Warrior with the Heart of a Lion, fiercely determined to speak out for the sake of his people, in the name of the Truth in order to deliver a positive message to every conscious ear blessed to hear his Voice. Mighty Kalipssus speaks from his Soul, straight through his heart, while walking the road of righteousness, meditation, truth and reason.

KALIPSSUS Nace de una fuerte entrega a las raÃces y cultura de la verdad humana, Ãfrica, tierra de acontecimientos ancestrales en llanuras que vieron el nacer del hombre, historia que es y ha sido revelada en el tiempo por medio la expresión artÃstica y cultural de la raza Afro-americana, con alma, fuerza y cimientos en la música Socca y Calypso marcando el contexto lirical idóneo de este artista naciendo de allà su nombre artistico, Kalipssus.
Su vida musical nace en 1999, difundiendo el genero musical RAP y la cultura de vida Hip-Hop como homeboy entregado totalmente y representando al movimiento desde cada uno de sus elementos como lo son el Graffiti & Dj´ing construyendo su estilo y encontrando su identidad musical en medio de batallas de Mc´s, pasando asà cinco años haciendo familia en el movimiento HIP HOP Antioqueño, estudiando acerca de las raÃces del ser humano en la cultura Cristiana Ortodoxa Africana y creando un espacio abierto a la historia. En el año 2004 se lanza su primer sencillo llamado "Warrior ina Babylon" en colaboración de L-Mental productor de Rap del Municipio de Bello quien lo guÃa en sus primeros pasos y lo lleva a conocer a Napez uno de los talentos prominentes en producción musical en MedellÃn, Colombia.
Luego de trabajar arduo en su estilo,rapeo y letras une fuerzas con Alfredo MC cuyo fruto fue la agrupación de RAP paisa Jah Babylon trayendo consigo fuertes lÃricas en contra de la desigualdad social y el trato dado al pueblo por medio de mandatos aprobados por parte del congreso Colombiano y acciones malintencionadas de dirigentes polÃticos dando paso abierto a grupos militarizados que aun se encuentran en conflicto armado en nuestros paÃs.
Luego de variadas canciones grabadas con la agrupación Jah Babilon, Kalipssus inicia un re-encuentro con su estilo, formando una nueva percepción musical que abarca todos los elementos de la cultura Hip-Hop acoplando aquà sus conocimientos sobre la cultura Afroamericana y raÃces artisticas Afrocolombianas a su estilo musical y forma de vida.
Perpetuando en la esencia de la vida siempre llevando un mensaje positivo a todo aquel quien lo quiera escuchar a todo aquel quien permita entrar el fuego bendito de la verdad humana a su corazón, cubriendo el camino de su meditación, verdad y razón.
