About Me

The Transcontinentals feature the four original members of STUDMENN , one of Iceland´s most infamous art-rock ensemble. The Transcontinentals or FRUMMENN as they are named in their native Iceland went to Los Angeles in 2006 to record their debut album with American bass-guitar legend Carol Kaye, drum & percussion powerhouse Jim Keltner, and Jerry Lee Lewis's producer/guitarist Jimmy Rip. Together with British producer Sam Franks, the band recorded 14 new original songs which have now been released on a CD titled LOST & FOUND by Reykjavik Records (in Icelandic -TAPAÐ/FUNDIÐ).The recordings took place at Track Record Studios in North Hollywood, originally built by country & western chanteuse Emmelou Harris but now owned and operated by Tom Murphy, former Beach Boys sound guru. The Transcontinentals are a classic rock group under the influence of The Beatles & The Beach Boys to name a few. Their debut album has been well received in their native Iceland and a documentary film describing the journey to America and the entire recording process was premiered on Icelandic National Television on December 19th 2006. The group has made various live appearances in 2006 as well as live radio and TV broadcasts. The line-up includes vocalist Gylfi, guitarist/vocalist Valgeir, guitarist/vocalist Ragnar & keyboardist Jakob. They all write the songs, collectively & individually. The group plans to perform in America and Europe in 2007.
