Questo/a opera è pubblicato sotto una Licenza Creative Commons . www.myspaceeditor.itThe band “Amy’s Lair” was born in March 2007 and it is currently composed by a singer, Emanuela Costa, a guitar player, Francesco Medas, and a drummer Andrea Desogus. Francesco was born in Cagliari (Italy) in 1984 . He’s a guitar player of exceptional talent, a composer of music and an author of lyrics, but also a keyboards player and a singer. He grew up listening to Pink Floyd, Genesis, Extreme and Toto, but most of all his favourite band: the U2. He has begun to play guitar from self-taught on the age of 14, beginning enthusiastically just from the songs of the U2 and demonstrating immediately a great attitude for the instrument. In 2000, with the bass player Davide Cavallini and some friends, he created his first group, the “Holy Dunx”, a cover band of the U2, and with them he began also the first experience of composition, strictly in english. He attended guitar lessons to improve his technique and, by the time, he learned to use programs for recording music by computer and to play keyboards. He passed from simple compositions to more complete pieces: the times of Holy Dunx ended and in the 2003 a new band was born, “The Feature”, with a new drummer and a new keyboards player. Francesco was now inspired by great guitarists, like Steve Vai, Satriani, Nuno Bettencourt and Petrucci : this is a prolific period, during which he wrote music and lyrics and sang his songs. The group was inspired by the progressive rock of the Dream Theater and their kind of music was mainly instrumental… the choice of a singer, in fact, never seemed to be the definitive one. Live exhibitions began, but the Feature didn’t have a role singer yet… at least, in 2005, “Destiny” made Francesco meet again Emanuela, a friend of high school, but most of all a singer. Emanuela was born in Cagliari (Italy) in 1984. She is a singer, but also an author of lyrics; lately she has begun to write some pieces of the band with Francesco. She begun to attend her first lessons of singing to the age of 10 years, amusing herself and never taking herself too much seriously: the first songs she learned were some of the irish band Cranberries. To the age of 14, she stopped lessons to spend all her time studying, even if her passion for singing brought her, from self-taught, to experiment and to attempt various musical kinds, from the pop-rock of Irene Grandi and Elisa (with Antonella Ruggero her favourite Italian singers), to Mina, Ella Fitzgerald, Alanis Morissette, Dido… moreover Emanuela loves listening to distant kinds of music, preferring groups like Goo Goo Dolls, Queen, Beatles, U2 and Sting. She resumed to study singing when she was 19 and finally she decided to follow this way seriously: technique improved and inspiration arrived also from Diana Ross,Whitney Houston, Tori Amos,KT Tunstall and Alanis Morissette, Irene Grandi and Elisa as well, while Coldplay began to influence her music style. When she met Francesco she started to think about the possibility of being no more a soloist, but a singer of a band: that’s how she began to sing with the Feature. The group, wich changed its name in “Feat”, participated to SanremoLab 2005 with the song “Sfida” (music by Francesco Medas, lyrics from the writer Lorella Costa) and qualificated for the semifinal of the selection; meanwhile the Feature began live experience and the collaboration between Francesco (who was called in Rome by the group “Miriam” in order to participate to their last album) and Emanuela grew up, both musical ideas and lyrics. This rock kept some progressive hard tones of the past, but it stretched to become more melodic because of the voice of Emanuela, a rock that is rich of various infuences, like funky, jazz, etc. In 2006 the Feat broke up and at this point Andrea the third member of Amy's Lair met Francesco and Emanuela. Andrea was born in Cagliari (Italy) in 1983. He began to play drums in 1996, just for fun. By the time, his passion grew and Andrea decided to study drums seriously. He attended lessons for approximately ten years at the “Peter's Day” school, with Giuseppe Melis (Isola Song) and Daniele Russo (Balentes).Now this experience is finished, but he continues studying from self-taught and trying always new grooves. His favourite kind of music is rock, but also funky from the '70/'80’s and pop, for example Toto and Queen; his favourite drummer is Jeff Porcaro. Andrea supported in several band, the last is Phobi@ live band. At the beginnig of 2007 a good musical complicity between Francesco,Emanuela and Andrea was born, and Amy's Lair plan starts. The first step will be the next publication of a cd featuring three unrealased tracks published with the book of comics “Bollicine” edited by Taphros.
