About Me

/

My Interests

The tendancy of both the human individual and the collective consciousness towards complete delusional thinking and expectation also fascinates and appalls me.

I'd like to meet:

Intelligent people please. Esp the Duchess of Devonshire. Debo is the last surviving Mitford Sister. Tea at Chatsworth.

Music:

Ah! Yes please. I suppose I cheat, because I usually like anything Nick Harcourt or Jason Bentley or Anne Litt or Trisha are playing on KCRWmusic.com. "Andrew Continues Eclectic" perhaps? Have to specify though: Arctic Monkeys, Lily Allen, Michael Franti, Lucinda Williams, & the Deities that are Gillian Welch & the Divine Beth Orton.

Movies:

Yes again, please. Fellini. Louise Brooks - possibly the sexiest actress ever. Derek Jarman. And I really want to see David Lynch's "Inland Empire". How did I end up actually living inside a David Lynch movie/episode anway?

Television:

Buffy - Buffy. Love Veronica Mars. Though she would never drive a Saturn. In Veronica, rather than a 'Slayer', we have a classic noir detective, who of course happens to be - yet again - a cute, petite blonde teenager. RADIO! Real Radio is FAR more important to me than sick, $$-fixated television. NPR, BBC, KCRW, KUSC. The Sublime KCRW "Soundtrack Of My Life". None of which means anything to anyone reading this if they are not familiar with S.Cal radio. Well, OK, everyone has, I hope, heard of the BBC?

Books:

Have read a great many, as I learned to read over 40 years ago & have seldom ceased so to do. "The Last Open Road" by B.S. Levy would get my particular & fundamental recommendation, to everyone. And I am renowned for my fixation on the Brontes & the Mitford Sisters. And please - "Wuthering Heights" is NOT romantic!! Currently Reading Derek Jarman once again - 'Modern Nature'. In the rare moments when I have any time to read.

Heroes:

We should have them.

Uncle Monty

Have you seen 'Withnail and I" ? It's a "cult classic" and rightly so. I've watched it every few years since it's release in 1986 - it's a 'Film4' - Channel 4 Films in England - I've been watching it ...
