Fat Daddy's Live!

Fat Daddy's Live Coming Soon!! -- But in Denton

About Me

The day Deep Ellum DIED!
We are NOT re-opening the old "Trees" Building :(
They want to kill Deep Ellum and the local music scene
This will be short and to the point. We have been struggling/fighting the "NEW" system that has been put in place. We were told/lied to, that the "NEW" laws were passed to run off the "Hip Hop" clubs. Barry Annino, head of the Deep Ellum Foundation, was the man who told us that. He was also the one who told us that he would NEVER allow a new "All Ages" venue to open in Deep Ellum. We were wondering why he was against "Hip Hop" and "All Ages" venues.
Well we thought it would be a beautiful thing to re-open the "Trees" building. All we wanted is to open the venue and feature local and national bands. So we were going to FIGHT the City of Dallas, The Deep Ellum Foundation and the Deep Ellum Association until we were approved to open. Well after spending thousands of dollars, and several months we have learned the HORRIBLE TRUTH as to why this is so hard to simply open a business.
Click here to read what the City of Dallas, and The Deep Ellum Foundation have already planned for Deep Ellum. Why the hell did they string us along for so long?
After all the BS we have been through, and will still go through, only to be denied opening, we have decided that the wonderful city of "DENTON" is where we are going to open "FAT DADDY'S LIVE!". The Mayor from the City of Denton has returned our email and the Director of Economic Development is actually looking for a building for us. WOW!!! Imagine a City that actually SUPPORTS and WANTS live music venues.
In closing, I wonder why the City of Dallas, has killed the naturally born, live music scene? You can't have a live music scene that is "PLANNED". It has to develop naturally. That was the beautiful thing about Deep Ellum. Well folks, take pictures now, because soon Deep Ellum will be gone. We love Deep Ellum (what it was), and will miss it.
In the meantime, we are revamping "Fat Daddy's Sound Shack", after all it is a 1200 cap room, and will be our main venue until "Fat Daddy's Live" opens in Denton.
We would like to thank all of our friends and supporters who have helped clean, and fight for the scene. We love you, and appreciate EVERYTHING you have done for the scene.
Thank you,
Fat Daddy's Sound Shack

To EVERYONE THAT GIVES A DAMN ABOUT DEEP ELLUM:

The Deep Ellum Music Scene Killers are; Barry Annino and Jeff Swaney.

Barry Annino and Jeff Swaney are business partners that own most of the Deep Ellum Real Estate. They are the ones who would not allow "TREES" to reopen. They are the ones, who want everyone out of Deep Ellum so they can sell their property to developers and make a lot of money. Ironically Jeff Swaney was the original owner of "Club Clearview."

Ahh the memories from the old "TREES" venue. These are photos taken in the dark last night, Nov 9 2006. As you can see, everything is pretty much the same. It is going to take a lot of work to get things cleaned up and up to code. We just wanted to show you how it looks now.
