The first CD, Gess (aka Eugene K. Diabour) ever bought, (well stole from his Pops), was Night flight to Venus by Boney M. When he was 11 he started listening to Reggae, to the likes of Chaka Demus & Pliers and Shaggy & Raven. Subsequent to the Reggae phase Gess got heavily into Hip Hop, primarily NWA in which Dr Dre became his first major influence and a source of inspiration.Like most, The Notorious BIG was instrumental in Gess’s interest in Hip Hop and it was Biggie that enthused him to start writing rhymes. After playing the local circuit in his university town of Leeds with acclaimed artists such as Tommy Evans, Gess began to cultivate a deeper desire for music, which led him beyond the performance aspect of the industry, to the beat making process. Although never shy of getting up on stage and using a mic, Gess quickly realised that he had to employ more than just his lyrical capabilities if he was to make a mark on the industry. The opportunity to explore his creative side soon arose as he found that various producers were not meeting his creative needs and so his journey as a producer began.Dreams of being that beat scientist in the studio started to seriously take shape in 2000, when he bought his first pieces of equipment - a Panasonic keyboard and a PC. After a few months and countless tedious hours of grappling with the ins and outs of music software, Gess along with Final Kauz produced the Classified outfit. Classified quickly became known in Leeds through their energetic shows performing at Elbow Rooms, Po Na Na and even graced the stage of Lovedough like many other influential UK artists such as Kano, Sway, Shystie, L Dot Man and Lethal B to name a few. As producers such as Timbaland, The Neptunes and Kanye West showcased their beats to the world it provided a standard which was continuously influencing and inspiring Gess to produce innovative and original material in a an endless quest for brilliance.Since 2000 Gess has produced a whole range of different instrumentals, which once birthed in Hip Hop, have emerged to encompass all genres. Gess has worked with an array of artists, from up and coming hotly tipped acts like KC, Soulstar, and Joe Black and including Faith SFX, to Hip hop legends such as Fallacy and DJ Kofi.This is only the beginning……............................................. ..........................................................
