In Love with Music...

About Me

I guess I was 16 years old when it all started for me.I remember being really nervous as I walked into this small club in Banff Alberta.I was nervous because the id I had was fake and I didn't think it looked anything like me...but the doorman didn't seem to care.I was with a friend who knew the dj that night so when we walked downstairs we went straight to the dj booth. That was the first time I had ever been in a dj booth and I loved it.To see the party from another view was so exciting to me.I had no idea at that point that this would be the same booth I would play my first track from.......After that first night I pretty much went out to this club everynight for a month,I was hooked. And then one night, out of nowhere the dj said "I have to leave the booth for a few minutes,if the track is about to end throw something on" and then jumped out of the booth and was gone...I remember looking back and forth between the box of cd's he had and the counter ticking away on the cd player...1min left it flashed....so I reached in and grabbed the first cd with a title I recognized.Tried to cue it as best I could from what I learned from watching the dj play for the last month...15 sec left. . . 14. . . .13. . . .12....when that counter hit 2 I pushed play and smashed the crossfader over........silence.....nothing was playing at all...I hadn't noticed but the "phono/line" switch on the mixer was on the wrong channel...after what seemed like forever I noticed and flipped that swith as fast I could....I head a loud POP! and then the words "Get out your seats and Jump around. . .jump around!" and then the crowd went crazy and all started jumping....That was the exact moment I decided I wanted to be a dj. Fastforward 6 years...After buying and selling turtables and stuff once I bought a second pair,Tech 1210's and a Rane Empath mixer.I have spent as many waking hours as I can since then practicing and looking for a style to call my own....I have spent the last few years listening to different styles of electronic dance music trying to find a style that I liked...and I have come to a conclusion...I have no idea what style I want to play...I just play what ever feels right next.I focus alot on trance, electro, house and a little bit on drum&bass and breaks....I have only had the chance to play shows a couple of times but I love every minute of them and am eager to play out more often. I have recently moved to Winnipeg Manitoba to try and expose myself to more styles of music and more dj's...If you are a dj or know of someone in the area who does I would love to hear from [email protected] ***There's two kinds of dj's in the world, those who do it for money and fame, and those who do it because they are truly in love with music and want to share it with everyone they meet.................I am the latter.*** I edited my profile with Thomas' Myspace Editor V4.4
