Muzikjunki biography
1974 was a good year, the year where the Dutch soccer team lost the finals despite having a better team with players such as Cruyff, Neeskens, Rep, Schrijvers…legendary names that wrote history during a tournament where the Dutch stamped their mark on soccer and how it should be played. 1974 was also the year where Dani Hageman aka Muzikjunki was born, little did he know about soccer and even today he couldn’t care less. It’s all about music for him, always has been and always will be as it looks now and like other fellow Dutchmen he’s slowly stamping his own mark on today’s house music. It’s hard to say what makes the dutch sound, but most people refer to a certain energy which originates from gabber, the infamous sound that had so many elements like early punk, it was all about the energy, the flow of things which spreaded all over the world. Gabber originally came from Rotterdam, like Muzikjunki and knowing these things become clearer as his sound seem to contain the same elements that producers from Rotterdam all share, Energy!Not a stranger to the dutch scene he’s now slowly getting the recognition he deserves after working hard for many years which is starting to pay off. His first release “Feel Now” appeared in many play lists from dj’s all over the world, a start of many good things. His second release, “Look Deeper” did even better. He teamed up with Ace, a talented singer/songwriter/rapper from Rotterdam whose roots go back to sunny England. Besides that he created an enormous amount of fresh originals, seeking for his own sound and countless remixes and re-edits of bootlegs which helped him during his dj sets. Many of those bootlegs have become in demand lately! He also teamed up with the beautiful and talented Anna Gold which resulted in two singles. The first track called “ Colour my World” is currently being remixed by the mighty Rene Amesz and will appear on Deep Focus early February 2007After having explored many styles it’s become clear that Muzikjunki has found what he’s looking for. His unique style blends House, hip hop, electro and a touch of progressive all into one infectious style of dirty beats and gritty bass lines. Together with Ace he’s responsible for “Dem try” on Groovecollection Red records. The second release of this new label will be a joint venture between Auke Ferweda and Chris Beemster called “ Break Me, Shake Me” with the vocals from Marty Lee, a perfect example of what drives the original Muzikjunki! Dutch based Deep records is releasing “Blue Eyed Boy” with singer/songwriter Anna Gold ( remixes by Nils Noa and Glenn Morisson) and he’s just remixed Adrian Eftimie’s “ This Side Effect” to full effect for the same Deep imprint. As if this isn’t enough his new single with Auke Ferwerda and Chris Beemster ( aka Myu Myu ) is just signed to CR2, UK’s heavyweight label that just successfully released Fedde’s “ Put your hands up for Detroit”! Furthermore he’s working on new originals and remixes although his full schedule of dj gigs doesn’t allow him to spend more time in the studio. It will be hard to name a club in Holland where he hasn’t been spinning yet…..next to all that he’s just started his own radio show called “ Junk Radio”. Keep an eye out to this original Muzikjunki, bigger things are on it’s way and nothing is stopping him now! It’s the music that makes the Junki……
