This season we’ll be performing at the Hen & Chickens Theatre in Islington for two weeks from the 8th to the 19th of April.
The Plays are:
'Noir' by Peter Straughan
Directed by Nick Mouton
Tues 1st - Sat 5th April 2008
George is on the hunt for the man who is seducing his wife Ruth, a lecturer in Film Noir. Alison, an adult chat-line operator, tells her shrink a dream that she was shot in the woods by her father Howard, who the Pentecostal preacher, Reverend Lang, suspects of stealing £20,000 from the church accounts.
When Morris, Ruth’s seducer, turns up as a waiter in a Chinese restaurant, things take a sinister turn for the worse. Noir is a dark comedy which combines all the classic ingredients of film noir – suspense, a private eye, a femme fatale, sex, violence, infidelity, and murder.
And:
'All’s Well That Ends Well' by William Shakespeare
Directed by Olivia Rowe
Tues 8th - Sat 12th April 2008.
All's Well That Ends Well is a romance comedy. It is also one of Shakespeare's ‘problem plays’ as the heroes and heroines are seriously flawed in some way. Bertram is a problem because he consistently mistreats Helena, the woman who loves him. Helena is also a problem because, though intelligent and appealing, she resorts to trickery to win Bertram. Ain’t love grand?
One Act New Writing
Plays & Directors TBC
Tuesday 15 – Saturday 19 April 2008
We’re still looking for scripts and directors for our New Writing programme – for the round table readings and there’s still a chance to get involved in this season’s shows. The auditions for the New Writing shows are in February so don’t be shy.
Socials
Ongoing throughout the season are our Thirsty Thursday socials - a chance for old-timers to catch up, newcomers to meet the family, and drinks to be drunk. Kick off is 6.30 at the Glassblower near Piccadilly, in the upstairs bar, but just ask at the bar if you can't find us.
The usual dates are the first Thursdays of each month. We'll confirm the spring season dates as soon as we can.
New Writing Roundtable Readings
This is a chance to sit in a pub, read new material and chat openly about it. There will be three nights and two new one act plays a night and it costs nothing to attend or submit. Fates and locations for this season have not been confirmed, but keep an eye out here and on our dates for more information as it arrives
If you want to submit a play for consideration please contact the New Writing Co-ordinator, Eddie Coleman, on eddiecoleman (at) lineone.net
