As an archaeology student I discovered that my tutor and mentor Dan Garrett was the obscure hero Blue Beetle and helped him defeat a great menace. Garrett was fatally injured in battle, and I swore to carry on the tradition. Although I have no super-powers, I used my intellect and resources to great various gadgets to aid me in my fight against crime. I became a member of the Justice League where I was known as much for my humour and my friendship with Booster Gold as for my heroism. I later retired, partly due to a losing battle with my waistline, but a friendship with Barbara Gordon, Oracle, re-awoke the desire to help others, and despite some serious health problems, I have returned to action alongside several of his old comrades.
And now...I am dead.
