About Me

My name is Patrick Sullivan and I do stand-up comedy, and this seems like a great networking tool, so if you do comedy, or enjoy watching or listening to comedy, or just sleeping with comics, add me baby! I've performed all across the country, from NYC to San Diego, and all kinds of places in between. I must admit there's nothing like the energy you get from being on stage and making people laugh.I started doing comedy after 911 forced me out of my job. All my life people were asking me if I did stand-up, so I decided this was my opportuntity, so I enrolled in some writing classes at the American Comedy Institute in NYC. I spent a few months there, and did my first performance at Stand-up New York. It was my proudest moment ever!I went back to St. Louis, where I received my real comedy education at the Wesport Funnybone, doing my weekly open mics, and I took a job at the door to meet the headliners, and learn more about the business. I also took advantage of this time by traveling to other clubs and performing up in Chicago (Zanie's), and Minneapolis (Knuckleheads, and Acme)During that time I was working for mostly free drinks, or food, and maybe some cash, but my first real paying job as an opener for a week, was at The Comedy Forum in St. Peters, MO, a suburb of St. Louis. I also started my own room at the Great Grizzly Bear in Soulard, and worked whatever bar or party I could back then.Next stop Denver, one of the top cities for comedy between the two coasts. Plugged away at dive bar open mics all over town (Squire on Colfax the best bar for comedy in Denver tuesday nights) but The Comedy Works is one of THE top clubs in the country. New Talent night always pack them in, and Dave "deacon" Gray doesn't just set up a roster, but works a mentor as well. There was Wits End up in Westminster, and I managed to find work in surrounding cities like Colorado Springs (Loonies) and Greely (Down Under Club). I started a room doing monthly shows at the PS 1515. I also took improv classes from actress Edith Weiss.Opportunity knocked and brought me to San Diego (whales vagina) where I was able to perform at the world famous Comedy Store (La Jolla location) and various bars and coffee shops. I also managed to get a job as a tour guide my 4th day in San Diego, pretty much based on my comedic skills, adding color to city tours on an open top double decker bus from London, after a month I probably knew more about San Diego than most natives.Alas, I decided to get back into the airline business, because of a flexible schedule, and now I can provide my own flights to gigs in cities around the country, and do limited performances in the sky. I can't say the name of the company on myspace, but it rhymes with Jewless Stairways, and this is what brought me to Phoenix, where you'll find the Comedy Spot in Scottsdale and Harrah's Casino, and the Tempe Improv. I've also perfomed at Laff's Comedy Cafe in Tucson, AZ..... and I just keep plugging away!
I edited my profile with Thomas Myspace Editor V3.6 !

a day in the life of a pub crawler (me first blog)

i was dodging the the sun by lurking through the shadows of the behemoth skyscrapers, and the churches our forefathers built in "Old Beantown".  i had a mission that day and it wasn't an easy one...
