Indie rock band, Underside, consists of four members: Lee McGee, 24, lead vocals and rhythm guitar; Darran McDonnell, 26, lead guitar and backing vocals; Luke Rowles, 25, bass guitar and Dale Heming, 26, on drums and was formed in Cheltenham in 2005.McGee and Rowles started playing in 1999 in a band called Avenue which, although doing quite well locally and playing some big gigs, split after two years. In 2003 they joined a band called White Noise where they met McDonnell, but this band also split after a year due to artistic differences. In 2005 McGee, Rowles and McDonnell formed Underside and after a six month search, Heming became their latest addition on drums.Their style of rock has seen them play pubs and clubs in Cheltenham (including the 2 Pigs, The Barn, Bohemia) Gloucester (supporting The Stones Roses Experience at the Guildhall) Oxford, Swindon, and Birmingham, where they recently reached the Regional Finals of the 2007 Surface Unsigned Festival and played venues such as the Medicine Bar and BarFly.Their catchy, original tunes include classic rock numbers, as well as some softer, melodic pieces. These songs have earned them an admirable following locally, and growing fan base on a wider scale.Check out our live video's
