Recently told someone in an email who inquired as to my deepest passion that I'm one who believes deepest passions, too often told, become stale, dry up, and never get realized. But my incidental pleasures include witty and/or (preferably both) expansive conversations over tea/coffee, books, wandering aimlessly between trees (and occasionally climbing them), crystalized ginger, cats, sushi, dreams, and (if you haven't guessed this one yet you're probably a lost cause) words.
Writers, readers, muses, singers, travelers, people with interesting stories to tell...
Anything that doesn't give me a splitting headache, particularly chick-folk (ani, indigo girls, dar williams, johnatha brooke, sarah harmer, etc - and local super-talent teneia sanders), various electronic artists (underworld, VnV nation, tricky, oakenfold, some moby), jazz, and various other artists from almost every genre. Oh -and Devotchka! (they are incredible - check them out - seriously - I've yet to meet someone with even slightly decent music tastes who didn't like them). Oh - but if you are one of the thousands of musicians who have "goth" or "industrial" in your descrip, please don't bother emailing me an invite, as I can almost guarantee I won't like it.
Amelie, Never-Ending Story, The Dark Crystal, Harold and Maude, Monty Python's Life of Brian, When Harry Met Sally (ok so its an old stand-by but how can you not love it?), But I'm a Cheerleader, Being John Malkovich, and quite a few others that just aren't coming to mind right now
Grey's Anatomy, Law & Order, Monk, House MD, The Office
This list could go on for pages - I am getting my graduate degree in English, after all, so let's say we spare us both the trouble. You can probably guess my tastes from my profile anyway. And I'm always open to suggestions of new authors I should check out (though don't suggest yourself, people - that's just plain tacky).
My mom.
