About Me

Get your layout on
PimpMyArea.com I am an English teacher in Japan. In my free time, I like going to art museums, traveling, learning new things, meeting new people, sometimes playing video games, doing funny things, climbing buildings...I am quite self-reflexive, yet I think one of the hardest things to do is to write about myself. Is it possible to be sincere on a social networking website? Even if you want to be, the effect of knowing that you will have an audience will have some effect on self-presentation...I tend to ramble and think in a non-linear pattern. I am quite fond of absurd things. Like tomatoes, Elvis, Kitty-Chan, Dinosaurs, Shingo Mama and SMAP.I am interested in art (especially contemporary and modern art), aesthetics, philosophy, psychology, buddhism, and learning more about the world. I am trying to be more serious about studying Japanese. I like post-rock, punk, ambient music and music that has some meaning to it (though I can't say I am into girl rock, even if I can recognize it as being good music).I tend to be more interested in ideas than their execution.I think I should travel more.I was vegan for 6 years, but now am only a vegetarian.I am interested in self-identity and self-recreation. I changed my name to Simone when I moved to Japan because I was interested in seeing how one's name is connected with behavioral habits and personality. I also liked the name better than my given nickname. If names are arbitrary symbols, changing one's name shouldn't matter. Unless the change has symbolic import.よろしく!

My Interests

I'd like to meet:

someone engaging, intellectually stimulating, and who will not just go along with absurdist exploits but will also generate possibilities for such exploits as well.i think it would be great to meet Shingo Kattori, of SMAP. He is so funny.
