About Me

I recently completed my postgraduate studies at the Trinity College of Music where I was awarded a PGDip with distinction. Previous studies took place at the University of Surrey Roehampton Institute, where I gained a Batchelor of Music degree with first class honours. My teachers have included trumpet virtuoso Mark Bennett, London freelancers Paul Mayes & Edward Maxwell, brass legend Philip Jones and most recently Royal Philharmonic principal Brian Thomson and leading session musician Mike Lovatt.I'm currently enjoying a varied freelance and session career which includes work with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra and as a deputy on the west end productions of “Evita” and "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat". Between 2002-2006 I was a member of the famed National Youth Jazz Orchestra with whom I performed at major venues throughout the UK, which included a week’s residency at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in London’s Soho. I was also featured on NYJO’s recent CD “Something Old…” which has received much acclaim. As well as SE10 Brass (winners of the 2006 Philip Jones Brass Ensemble Competition), my chamber music credits include the Acappella Brass Quintet, Marine5 Brass Quintet and as a featured soloist with Roger Argente’s Superbrass. I'm also the trumpeter with the London Contemporary Music Group, performing the world premieres of works by composers such as Colin Matthews and Philip Cooke and principal trumpet with the Jersey Symphony Orchestra.Commercial successes include performances with a who’s who of British Jazz such as John Dankworth CBE, Dame Cleo Laine, Stan Tracey, Guy Barker and Tina May (to name a few) as well as with such celebrities as Leslie Garrett, Tony Hadley and Jamie Cullum. I also played lead trumpet on the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra’s recent recording of Bernstein’s West Side Story. Television work ranges from a performance with gospel star Dr. Ron Kenoli to an audience of 45 million on Sky Television to the pilot of ITV’s Simply The Best. Tours include Cyprus, Singapore and Malaysia with the hit production of “My Fair Lady”. I'm also on the teaching faculty of Roehampton University.Other groups I have performed with include the Royal Air Force Squadronaires Big Band, Camerata of London, Voices of Venice Orchestra, the Mike Smith Orchestra, the Nick Ross Orchestra, Opus One Big Band, Hot Orange Big Band, Surrey Sinfonietta, Beauchamp Sinfonietta, leading function band Groovin’ High and as part of Luddy Samm’s (vocalist with The Drifters and James Brown) Back II Basics band.
