About Me
Marina appreciated the poetic way of art since little girl, encouraged by her mother, an artist as well. While the creative process flew, she experienced and developed various artistic phases, and nowadays she dominates several expression techniques - drawing {illustration, abstract, geometric}, painting {acrylic and graffiti}, engraving {in wood and metal}, music {bass}, photography, video and even martial arts {Tae Kwon Do and Kung Fu Wushu}.
Art educator graduated at the Belas Artes University of São Paulo. During the formation she taught art in NGOs, was the art finalist at Paulo Consentino's paintor studio, integrated the performance group Gota and displayed two solo performances at Corpos Pintados {Body Painting} exposition, at Oca. Guide in the 27th São Paulo's Biennial of contemporary art, in october - december 2006, she was the responsible to lead the visits in english and spanish to the vip and spontaneous foreigner public.
On the artist side, it is visible the organic inspiration of the Art-nouveau style in her flowing lines; the nature is the main reference in nicety and shapes. But equally the contrast of the urban scenery is influence - grey, square, graffited. Marina understands that the natural world is what sustains the artificial world; the industrial things are nothing more than the pure nature modified and remodeled. And that is what she aims to do mentally - absorb and transform. In the intersection of both realities, nature versus street, arises a very personal way of expression, essencially graphic and synthesized in some undefining style. Something between the street art and psychedelic abstraction?
Musician, she learned the basslines spontaneously in 2001, playing rock and roll grooves together with Bárbara Starling and Victória Bicudo in the power trio Cana Loca, a band for fun. In 2003, when the girls vanished, Marina was invited by the audio producer Guilherme Simonsen to join the electronic-organic project Cine Mad in Chaos, and an infinite range of timbres and possibilities was open. The first productions were very experimental, until the whole turns into an original shape, some amoeba between Dub, Breakbeat and Trip Hop, influenced by sounds as High Tone and Amon Tobin.
The duet live P.A. had a constant presence in the main Chillouts in parties and festivals all around Brazil, such as Skol Beats, Solaris, Earthdance, Universo Paralello, Tranceformation, Kaballah, XXXperience, Tribe, IDCH and others, with attitude to develop and turn solid the brazilian Downtempo scene together with bands as Pedra Branca, Liquidus Ambiento and the producer Trotter {aka Soneca}. In the end of 2006, the first album is launched: Cine Mad in Chaos presents Coconutz in the air!, by the brazilian High End Records. Just after this finale, each one got the own way: Simonsen keeps CMC and Marina shifts to vocal partnerships in Liquidus Ambiento band and Corejoy, Cláudio Brio's {Tropical Beats} Electrohouse project.
So many diverse action! Marina is definitely a complex and multi-skill artist. Nowadays her production is focused to illustration in books and websites, painting on canvas and walls, music and art research. Mutant, Strictly experimental and always flowing with the heart...
