First Rock Star to have music featured in a major motion picture ("Blackboard Jungle" with Glen Ford and Sidney Poitier in 1955).
One of the first inductees into The Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame.
First Rock Star to star in a movie ("Rock Around The Clock" with Alan Freed!)
First white artist to be elected as the "R and B Personality of the Year".
First Rock Star to tour with all-Black supporting artists.

Music:

"Rock Around The Clock" number one for 8 weeks in 1955, other big hits: "Shake Rattle and Roll", "See You Later, Alligator", "Rip It Up", and the biggest selling single in Mexico's history with "Florida Twist" in 1961. Recorded over 100 on four Latin American labels, Dimsa, Orfeon, Maya and Dim.

Movies:

Starred in "Rock Around The Clock", "Don't Knock The Rock" (with Little Richard), "Let The Good Times Roll" in 1973, and "The London Rock and Roll Show", several Spanish movies including "Jovenes Y Rebeldes" in 1962, and a German movie in 1959 with Catarina Valente called "Hier bin ich - hier bleib' ich". Also starred with Elvis Presley and DJ Bill Randle in the 1955 film "The Pied Piper Of Cleveland". Due to legal circumstances, this movie was shown in public only once and the negatives are still in Universal's vaults.

Ed Sullivan Show, Milton Berle Show, American Bandstand, Ray Bolger Show, hosted TV series "Orfeon A-Go Go" in Mexico, etc.
