I was a Hammerjacks son! Keep the 80's alive man!

About Me

MyGen Profile GeneratorI was a Hammerjacks son!"HAMMERJACKS" was the "Studio 54" of the 80's but louder! Hammerjacks was Studio 54's bastard, rebellious child, that ran away, had the most kick ass time of his life, and committed suicide. The club was once life support for so many. It had the power to heal, destroy, and if it chose, to consume the soul through all of the senses. It was the nightclub of a lifetime, there may never be one like it again. Thousands of square feet containing 14 bars, 28 bartenders, 11 barbacks, 40 bouncers, 60 thousand watts of high energy rock and roll, raping your ear drums and fibulating your heart for you, laser light show, concussion mortars, and sparkle pots, housed in the two conecting barn style warehouses. On weekends there would be thousands of people experiencing it all at the same time. If you were in a National act and not playing there but at the nearby arena, you'd be in later after your show! In the 90's the music scene began to change, Rock was having a hangover and in came Techno and the Rave scene. Hip Hop was breaking through. Hammerjacks was dying and in a last ditch effort decided to conform, but that was what eventually led to it's demise. Grunge was the new Rock but the club that picked up the pieces was the Thunderdome. Eventually, Hammerjacks re-opend but went right back to the dance style it was never meant to be. Hammerjacks, with the lightening bolts shooting out from the logo was a Rock and Roll club and any attempt to change that would ultimately fail. It failed in the hearts of the people that grew up in the height of it's popularity and "unique experience" age where on any given weekend night, could house up to 8 thousand people at once!

My Interests

This second one, in the 80's was the best and biggest of the 3! I rubbed shoulders with some of the best musicians of the time. I wanna' meet people who remember those great times and who loved and called Hammerjacks their Second home!

I started working at Hammerjacks sometime in 1985 I think! After working a couple of other bars. I had been a roadie for some popular Baltimore bands and in 1984 I became a barback at the old "Desert ...
