About Me

Then: I was the drummer of Dirty Looks, Lillian Axe, Doctor Butcher, Mad As Hell, Suisonic, Straight @ Ya, Imperial Thrust, Shimmer, Soulcage and so far back as Strong Arm, Stainless Steel, Jack Hammer for my Baltimore homies.
Sorry about neglecting my whereabouts good buddy Dom!I'm currently on the Taste of Chaos Tour assisting a friend who is a vendor on the tour. Go here to see if I'm near you: www.rockstartasteofchaos.comI have limited access to the internets during this tour, so call me in addition to emailing me if I'm near you.
Now: Still drumming live and recording with some varied projects, but I'm primarily touring as a Drum Technician, Stage Manager and Production Manager. I've been working with a lot of Japanese bands. I just did OniCon in Houston with Rentrer En Soi. Before that I was out with Dir En Grey as SM/DT on THE DEFTONES 'So Ronery' tour this summer. Read my "Where Am I Now?" blog to see where I'm at and come visit me. Check out the band here: http://www.myspace.com/officialdirengrey Yes, I spend months living with them in a bus and NO, I won't tell you a single sordid detail of their existence. I also work with 12012 as my Jrock list keeps growing.
My main gig has me out with Matt from Mudvayne as his Drum Technician. I just got back from playing with his new Pearl Reference/Masterworks kit. My first show with them was the Saw II Movie Premier at The Palms-Rain in Vegas. Then we did the MASTERS OF HORROR TOUR with SEVENDUST, 10 years and Bobaflex. Then we hit all of Australia's BIG DAY OUT FESTIVALS and then came home to do KORN'S See You On The Other Side Tour. When Mudvayne completed the Lost and Found cycle, I moved over to the band 10 Years (you know who they are, think Wasteland), who opened for us and will be Drum Tech / Stage Manager on their headlining tour and on THE FAMILY VALUES 2006 Tour with Korn, Deftones, Stone Sour, Flyleaf, Dir En Grey, Deadsy, Bury Your Dead & Bullets And Octane... I've also been helping out the band Dir En Grey with their drum tones on FV and will join them as DT/SM when they return to America in Feb 2007 on the Inward Scream Tour.In June, 2006 I was at most of the big festival shows in Europe and Japan that Metallica, Tool, Alice In Chains, MUSE, Guns N Roses, Deftones, Flyleaf and a bunch of others are playing. My ongoing solo/band project of cheesy, punky, poppy stuff is called Egobox. Please bear with my MySpace progress, as I just (reluctantly, but I'm getting into it) started doing this, so more to come soon.
While I'm not on tour, I have a recording studio in my house where I also teach drums and guitar. I also work with bands on a consultant level. Bands approach me to manage them and I take them in a direction to where they can become more self sufficient, in a do it yourself, grass roots kind of operational setting. Building a band, and getting it somewhere is hard work, but is much easier than you think. Most people overlook the simple basics and don't ever get close to where they'd like to go. I like self reliance over having someone make decisions for you and I will put your band on that path. When a band is ready for a manager, they'll know it (why give someone 20% of whatever you make before you need to?). I've been a drummer in four major label bands fore and aft of signing, so I know the work that needs to be done. I will make you aware of what you need to be doing and the steps you must take, to get yourself seen and heard. Also as stated above, I currently tour the globe with various bands, so I'm always around people that are huge in the industry. Anyone interested in a Group Therapy session for yourself, or your band should message me and I'll fill you in on the details.
Watch this real quick while you're here...

My Interests

Health. Awareness. Making change happen - one dent at a time. Waking people up. Standing up for those that can't, or are afraid to. Animal rights. Listening to, playing and writing music. Reading. Movies. Concerts. Playing outdoors in nature. Long walks on the beach (Perth was a nice one). Traveling. Seeing Cirque Du Soleil live or on my DVDs. My carbon fiber mountain and road bikes. Guinness - If I had a pool, I'd fill it with Stout!

I'd like to meet:

Activists. Vegans. Vegetarians. Artists. Musicians. Tour guides for the cities over the planet that I work in. Friendly, positive and progressive people. People to put an amazing punk band together with. Great bands to tour with. People that actually care. Anyone who lives to make life better. Anyone who doesn't want to sit back and allow greedy corporate brutes and politicians to rule our world. Anyone that would rather act, even if it meant going to jail for the day and taking a baton in the head, than sit back in regret, or worse, complacency to what's going on all around us. Especially now, in this reactionary age we're spiraling towards. We're flatlining our non-caring asses into extinction and it needs to stop. I don't want much do I?
"As long as Man continues to be the ruthless destroyer of lower living beings he will never know health or peace. For as long as men massacre animals, they will kill each other. Indeed, he who sows the seed of murder and pain cannot reap joy and love." --Pythagoras

People are always asking why I don't drink milk. Watch this, it will help explain it, and why YOU shouldn't either.

Music:

Rock, Metal, Punk, Emo, Jazz, some classic rock stuff from childhood... I have over 5000 CDs so listing my favorites is a long process. Recent plays in the ipod are Rise Against, REM, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Matthew Good, Tori Amos, NIN, Green Day, The Used, Ani DiFranco, Radiohead, Fiona Apple, Elvis Costello, The Cure, Descendents, Our Lady Peace, Jeff Buckley, Pearl Jam, Rival Schools, Portishead, Ramones, Omni Trio, Death Cab, Sleater-Kinney, Sex Pistols, Public Enemy, Pixies, People In Planes... Goldfinger has been my favorite band for a pretty long time due to their great message, energy, attitude, songs, vocals and excellent drummer. NOFX is another favorite because they stand for something. U2 will always be there. The Beatles of course. I've liked Mudvayne for a while, but I like them more now that I'm working for them on their current tour with Korn. Same goes for Sevendust, since they were on the Masters Of Horror Tour with us last year. Great to watch perform live and super cool guys. Their new CD is amazing. Watching Morgan and Matt play every night was so excellent for my drumming that I hardly have to practice anymore. My gig has me on shows with Korn, Staind, Trapt, Rob Zombie, POD, Bloodsimple, Coheed and Cambria, Avenged Sevenfold, Shinedown, Live, Drowning Pool, Disturbed, Nonpoint, Hatebreed, 3 Days Grace... so it's pretty great to get paid to see the world and watch all these bands.

Movies:

Pulp Fiction and Fight Club will probably be my favorite movies forever. My other favorites include Seven, True Romance, Reservoir Dogs, The Crow, Boondock Saints, Team America, Clerks, Chasing Amy, Mallrats, Dogma, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, I expected much more from Clerks 2 (couldve been much better and way less predictable. What's up Kevin?), Snatch, Scarface, The Wedding Singer, Office Space, Anchorman, The 40 Year Old Virgin, It's a Wonderful Life, Fast Food Nation, Fahrenheit 911, Bowling For Columbine, The Big One, Roger & Me, Supersize Me, The Corporation... Independents, Documentaries. A movie really has to suck in a big bad way for me not to like it. I'd like to get paid to watch movies. Oh yeah, I do when I tour!

Television:

The Daily Show, Dave Chappelle, Carlos Mencia, Anything with Bill Mahr, George Carlin, Lewis Black, Rescue Me, Family Guy, South Park, Playboy Channel (tour bus only, but not on the 10 Years tour so far). The Awful Truth and TV Nation were great shows that should still be on because our shady government and the companies that run it need more watchdogs!!!!! Don't get lazy on us now Michael!

Books:

Making Kind Choices by Ingrid Newkirk is an excellent book for living a "leave no wake" type of life. I'm always reading non-fiction, social/world/political books (which really helps my life of the party, sense of humor) from the likes of Ralph Nader, Noam Chomsky, Howard Zinn, Bob Woodward, Michael Moore... I'm now readin The Hundred Year Lie. Everyone should really read that book! 1984 has always been a favorite that I had hoped would remain a fiction title but alas... Chuck Palahniuk is my current favorite author (I keep losing auctions for the first edition hardcover copy of Fight Club on ebay). Stephen King has been a favorite for a long time.

Heroes:

That word is too loosely defined and too quickly given. My heroes are people in the military that have the courage to stand up to our insane, wanna be dictator of a President. People like Ingrid Newkirk, Peter Singer and everyone in the Animal Rights Movement and people that are willing to protest an unjust government, or to expose and stand up against any of the unjust ugliness on our planet. Whistleblowers are heroes. Ralph Nader has done more for, and has been more of a hero to the American people than almost every President, yet the majority treat or view him as a nuisance. Ignorance is my Kryptonite. Superman is a great heroe!

My Blog

Ignorance is not bliss, it’s ignorance.

I posted this as a comment repsonse to a new friend's blog entitled: "Run Ralph Run." because I simply wanted people to know a few things about the man, that they may not have heard before.   I'...
