Grand Union Revival were born out of a burning desire to make THE finest, Southern-fried, boogie-drenched, filth-laden, heart-starting, shit-kicking riot rock ever to slouch its way to your house, invite itself in, drink your whisky and make a pass at your sister.
The band's carefully marshalled and louchely planned rise to the top began, unlikely as it is, in a shitty rehearsal room (begins with a 'ruh') in the back streets of Birmingham. Some say 'Never Gonna Leave You' is a relic of these times. Others wouldn't dare. Members went and came (Good luck J!) and the sweet-smelling, strangely attractive line-up you may be familiar with emerged in 2006.
The present incarnation of GUR began their live assault on the stage of the Bull and Gate, Camden, to a riotous and some might even say debauched, reception. Dates in Birmingham followed and those with any sense will catch GUR while there is still a sense of lurid and onanistic (Yes, we know) intimacy about their performances...
Currently armed with a new clutch of ball breakin', ass shakin' musical gems such as "Got Nothin' On Me, "Down The Hatch" and "Stray Dogs", GUR will be combining live performances over the coming months with the recording of a lovely, shiny new demo, due to land early September for the aural delight of all you lovely, lovely people.Anyway, thanks for looking us up, hopefully we'll see you soon, but until that day arrives, keep it hard, baby.Contrary to our earlier, shameless lies, our new demo will be bursting forth from the womb of our Mother Rock on 16th December, and will feature such radio friendly classics as: Got Nothin' On Me, Moving Along and the reggae dancehall anthem Down The Hatch. We trust you will enjoy, and hereby invite you all to a sexy party, time and date TBC.LISTEN TO LIVE TRACKS FROM OUR PERFORMANCE AT Y-NOT FESTIVAL - AUGUST 2007 IN THE PLAYER BELOW:Audio Expand Player
