crashzendo’s psychotronic music is the result of spontaneous improvised flow. crashzendo believe that the magic of an initial creative moment is easily lost in subsequent (forced and often unsuccessful) attempts at recreating it. crashzendo have had no formal musical training, cannot actually play classical instruments and also have no idea how to use complex computer software or midi-sync anything. This is not to say that what crashzendo present on stage is mere chaos. When playing live, their intention is to perform vaguely similar versions of their past musical exploits, starting from a shared roadmap and unfolding from there. crashzendo are aware of the inevitability of influence and know that, even though they aren't trying to approximate the music of anyone else, what they are doing cannot be truly original. It is an honest and unpolished ride that borrows from the musical backgrounds of its creators, combining the pulse of rock with brute pattern-oriented electronic beats. crashzendo are an eclectic hybrid in terms of both sound and structure and resonate from within an interstitial space in-between musical styles.Past musical exploits and side projects can be downloaded for free at one of our other webpages. Please visit them both, they're right above this text, just a click away :)

My Interests

Band Members: Dr Jhelli & Mr Gescheit -- guest musicians welcome (we ain't got no guitars).
Influences: crashzendo will probably be remembered not so much for their own music as for their beliefs that chance plays as much a role in music as premeditated design and the democratic ideal that anyone can participate. —John Cage—
Sounds Like: Alan Watts (1915-1973), who said that lack of awareness of the basic unity of organism and environment is a serious and dangerous hallucination. he also said that the only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance. And that no one's mouth is big enough to utter the whole thing. And that trying to define yourself is like trying to bite your own teeth. According to Watts, no one imagines that a symphony is supposed to improve in quality as it goes along, or that the whole object of playing it is to reach the finale. The point of music is discovered in every moment of playing and listening to it. It is the same with the greater part of our lives, and if we are unduly absorbed in improving them we may forget altogether to live them. So we try to just just play the music as it comes. What is an author, a composer? Who owns your words and images, your soundscapes? What does our cybernetic future portend for notions of intellectual freedom and intellectual property when nearly universal information will be universally accessible? It even strikes to the heart of knotty philosophical questions such as: How does a text or a song represent truth? What is inspiration? Creativity? Originality? Privacy?
