About Me

Hi I'm Jim. I'm 24 and I live in Newbury, England. I've just finished studying at Bristol University of the West of England (well almost)and if you hadn't guessed I'M A DJ!
I am a bit of a petrol head, and i love anything that goes fast. Got a car, but can't afford a quick one, have been meaning to do my motorcycle licence for years, go-kart and mini moto racing with mates is always a laugh. I used to play ice hockey and roller hockey, and I used ride everything from BMX to Downhill racing.Djing wise, I've always had a real keen interest in music and listened to all sorts from the Llama farmers to Anal C**t. Slipknot to Sinatra, but then one evening (during my punk stage I think) we half inched a friend's parent's car for a drive and someone slung on an Accelerated Culture tape. It really intrigued me, I loved it but it was nothing like I had heard before. Soon after I was taken to the Sanctuary in Milton Keynes (RIP) with my mates and that was it.
I finally bought decks when I was 18 (i think) and started buying tunes. Funnily several other mates had just bought decks too so it was nice to get some healthy competition to aid the learning. At about this time I got a job at the Bricklayers Pub where I met Mike Watch DJ Vapour, who was currently a chef there. He was a big influence and helped my Djing leaps and bounds in the early years. Nowadays however he just heckles me.
It took me while but I found a well hidden local record store, Nu-Urbanmusic.co.uk. Here I met some very helpful people who not only supplied me with new tunes every week but also gave me my first gig at a local night at the Tap n'Spile Pub in Newbury. Shouts to Olly, Andy (Spud), Duxie, Kev, James and Tobie. Here at Nu-Urban I also met another big influence - Gordy (The Shaolin Drunken Monk). Now a good friend, Gordy was always a great help to my Djing by taking the time to listen to my early mixes, letting me play at his house parties, and generally being supportive. Now i know it was probably all lies and he never listened to any of my mixes, but back then it helped alot.Nowadays I'm Djing Drum and Bass all over the place but mainly in the South West. I've Dj'd in Plymouth, Exeter, Bath, Frome, Carmathen, Swansea, Newbury, Leceister and all over Bristol including a residency i've just been given at Out of the Box. But this is not enough. NO. I'm currently trying to get more and more gigs, and more gigs further a field. I want to play out everywhere. Its too much fun. But to get more bookings I know I need to offer more than the next guy, so this year i'm really trying to get my head around producing and make my own beats.Anyway keep your eyes peeled for my name on a flyer and make sure you come down and say hi, and hopefully soon i'll have some beats on this page for you ears too.FORTHCOMING GIGS
