Corey Allison was born on July 28, 1978 in Farmington, New Mexico at the San Juan Regional Medical Center. He has four sisters, no brothers, and two loving parents. Throughout his elementary, junior high, and into high school, Corey sang and studied music within the public school system. Corey notes his Hermosa junior high choir teacher as one of his earliest influences.
“Mrs. Speck was an excellent teacher. She always encouraged my talent and pushed me to study harder. She introduced me to music that I wouldn’t have been exposed to at home. She taught me information that I use everyday when I work on any composition. Not only did she teach me to read and write standard music notation, but she also taught me how to pull emotions from the audience and use them to enhance my performance.â€
Corey Allison studied audio technology at the University of New Mexico under Professors Doug Geist, Eric Larsen, and Dr. Patricia Repar. During his time at UNM Corey studied film and video production and history under Professors Mary Tsiongas, Nina Norohoff, and Carl Mora. His time at UNM was very challenging and highly informative. The university setting taught Corey to challenge all concepts and philosophies about media and its role in society. The University of New Mexico helped fine tune Corey’s philosophy of media art and master the technical skills needed to produce professional quality media that truly reflect his vision and voice.
Corey Allison has performed all around North America as well as London-Camden Town, United Kingdom and Amsterdam, Netherlands. He has shared the stage with national and regional acts such as NBK Riders, Red Bone, John Trudell, Jana, Black Oak Arkansas, Bill Miller, Red Earth, etc. Currently he is working on a series of 12’ singles from his upcoming LP release entitled, INSPIRED BY THE GREENS.
“I’m anxious to get back on the road and start performing live in as many venues as I can find. Keep and eye and ear out for my upcoming releases!â€
