Well, The Summer Fiesta is over and done with for 2007, and i'm sure everyone who came along is still recovering now. We've managed to get the field back to its normal state, and the sheep have been returned to it. We had a great time this weekend. It did get a little stressful at times, but that's what we signed up for and we're far from complaining. We just thought we'd thank several people for making this weekend possible.
First and foremost, Mr Tom Thwaites. He allowed us to take over his farm for the weekend and without him the festival wouldn't have gone ahead. He put a lot into the fetival (getting power to the field, water, a stage etc etc) for which we are so very grateful. Thankyou!
Thanks to Josh for bringing his PA, and thanks to both Rob Land and Josh for being our dedicated soundguys for the weekend. We asked a lot of you both (doing the sound till till 3-4am on Saturday morning, followed by a 13 piece blues/jazz band at 12.30 the same day). You did a grand job
Thanks to Simon Land for working the lighting for us. He stood in the same place for hours just pressing buttons. It made the whole thing look so much more professional though, and we are very grateful.
Thanks to Chris Land for his help organising the festival, and also for helping out over the weekend with everything.
Thanks to Mike for his random restaurant, and to Jasmine for her salad/bean bar (mmm pesto pasta.....). Also, Steve Carruthers and Chris and their non profit bar, keeping our alcohol levels topped right up at a very reasonable price.
Thanks to Steve Halliday for the marquee. It was a perfect size and just what we needed.
Thanks to the bands, who were all just fantastic. The impromptu Weird String Band had to be one of the highlights (i've never seen "Don't you want me" by the Human League being done on a guitar, violin and double bass).
Thanks to Steve Carruthers, Kate Howden, Lynsey, Chris, Laura and Laura for helping with the clean up. There was a lot of recycling/litter picking/site dismantling to be done and we couldn't have got it sorted without your help.
And finally - thanks to everyone who came along and donated so generously. The charity that was chosen wasn't just a coincidence. Chloe's aunty was in the Eden Valley Hospice before she passed away last year, and this festival was raising funds for them so they can continue doing the excellent job they're already doing. This was for her. Early indications show we've raised around £1400 for the charity, give or take a few quid - a fantastic total i think you'll agree.
So, thanks again. There are no decisions over next year, but we'll never say never. Watch this space!
