FAVORITE PAST-TIME: video-gaming, the storytelling form of this age: complex storylines, an interactive nature unique to the format, and music scores that often surpass those of the movies (ie: CHRONO-CROSS, FINAL FANTASY IX, or SUIKODEN). All-time favorite series is RESIDENT EVIL, plus the CASTLEVANIA games (especially the N64, despite some bad press).I didn't always sit in front of the tv, though (just 90% of my waking hours); I actually enjoyed the outdoors a lot (as in this 1984 shot of me and Kelly at Huntington Beach):
Always keeping an eye out for people (friends, family, friends of family, etc.) that resemble pop culture icons. It's fun to re-create videogame, tv, and movie scenes!Above, yet another costume party extravaganza, this shot being my favorite pose of the world famous tri-force as Undead European Gangsters!
Above, my sister Paula as Peter Gabriel, for a costume party in 2002. Very detailed!I'm a big fan of some very talented local bands, some of which I'll feature on this MySpace page. I'm happy to say I was one of the earliest supporters of BLOODPROXY, recently re-named HER VOICE REMAINS, below. It's always fun to party with a good band, too! Below is DJ David, and two members of TOMORROW'S WAR (formerly WEEDEATER):And yes, lots of the stuff I grew up on was movie music and 1960s pop hits (my mother sang in a nightclub at one point). So recreating famous scenes comes naturally to the whole family, like below:
THE HOWLING, MARY POPPINS, THE THREE AMIGOS, BATMAN BEGINS, LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, MAME, ON HER MAJESTY'S SECRET SERVICE, RE-ANIMATOR, ELVIRA, MISTRESS OF THE DARK
FAVORITE CLASSIC TV SHOWS: THE AVENGERS: the classiest tv adventure series ever. DARK SHADOWS: the first vampire with a conscience, Barnabas Collins, plus a most beautiful witch in Angelique. BATMAN: the 1960s pop-culture hit. Bizarre, colorful, and in it's own way true to it's comic book source. Other favorites: THE WILD WILD WEST, MY PARTNER THE GHOST, THE GHOST AND MRS. MUIR, WONDER WOMAN, ARE YOU BEING SERVED, THE GREEN HORNET, THE SIMPSONS, FUTURAMA, A BIT OF FRY AND LAURIE. Most are fantasy, and none of them are especially grounded in reality - a bit like me!
The VAMPIRE CHRONICLES by Anne Rice; the P.G. Wodehouse JEEVES AND WOOSTER stories. The HARRY POTTER books by J.K. Rowling. Also COMICS and GRAPHIC NOVELS. The San-Diego Comic-Con is a terrific pop culture explosion that encompasses nearly everything I've mentioned here and anywhere else in my profile, and a fun photo-op!
