About Me

Hello! Living with my best friend (and wife) Christy in East Nashville. I love the local community here and look forward to continual involvement in the rich music, art, and nurturing social environment. It's fantastic to find such a tolerant, enlightened community!
I spend a great deal of time in front of a computer for work, but nonetheless I am still fascinated by the digital age. I started a web development business on a "whim" years ago, and now I do it professionally. I am proud to be self-employed, even though it requires self discipline and a tax burden that helps me to appreciate the cost of government, and any abuse of the 20% of my earnings that go into government coffers.
I love to meet enterprising and creative people. I find that life is project-based, and the key to fulfillment just might be that next project, regardless of how trivial it may seem. I enjoy making friendships through common goals: especially those that involve art, business, or both.
Visualization of the future is very effective. Daydreaming about possible outcomes is not a waste of time, on the contrary, it is usually the mark of a creative personality. It is a waste of time without willlingness to take significant risks, to be misunderstood, judged, or to fail.
Although I don't consider myself a leader, I have recently found great interest in the social phenomenon of leadership, and its importance in human organization. Not leadership in terms of fascism, but in an Aristotelean sense: the selfless, virtuous kind where multiple leaders move man forward. Leadership is best understood in terms of catalyst; or rather, the art of influence and inspiration.
A good leader listens more than speaks, does the majority of the work, and accepts the minority of the credit. Controlling personalities, although over-represented in the leadership pool, are not effective. Know them when you encounter them.
I believe in self-improvement, growth, and despite regular bouts of regression, I think I'm getting better at this whole life thing.
I try to "meditate" on mortality regulary. This practice helps me regain a glimpse of those "peak experiences" where there was holistic focus and clarity.
Exercise is important to me. For years I mistakenly believed that happiness was from the "mind", but later realized that the body and the mind were one, and to be happy, you have to exercise and maintain a reasonable lifestyle.
I don't judge people by income or wealth: and that goes for the entire range, including those who are financially prosperous. By this, I mean that I find myself less and less intimidated or impressed by wealth or status, and think it is niether a guage of success nor virtue. However, like most Americans, I am fascinated with how people choose to spend significant wealth.
My favorite sport is politics. I keep up with world events and enjoy discussions about policy and economics. I also enjoy the notion of "markets" as a mechanism for the exchange of information.
Although less than in the past, I still find interest in the quest for "meaning." I find religion and existentialism an unavoidable late-night topic with companions. I think love, as an entity, is an important thing to be mindful of: to harness, hone, express, and share.
Thanks for reading this, and I look forward to talking to you soon!
