I am here for Friends

About Me

I don’t make much of a living at it, but I consider myself an artist. My time is divided between mothering two beautiful children, writing, dance, travel, volunteerism and working as a Teaching Artist. I live on a few acres with my husband Thomas, and most mornings we wake up to the sun shining through the windows of our loft bedroom in a log cabin that is 175 years old. I am very much connected to the outdoors, and need to have trees and grass around me, need to be able to walk out my back door and feel grass on my bare feet.Life experiences in the past few years have opened my eyes to the beauty in everyday life. I see art everywhere, from the patterns made by bare tree limbs in the winter, to the interplay of light and shadows in a piece of clothing. I am sure that my exposure to aesthetic education and the arts in general have heightened this awareness, and my capacity for joy has been increased by my experiences with grief and potential loss of a loved one. Call me sappy, but I tend to be moved to tears at times by beauty. I am drawn to certain people and tend to take risks with emotional and intellectual intimacy when exploring new friendships. My colleague and friend Eric Booth summed this up beautifully, when he wrote to me: “It is lovely to meet you on the raw, vulnerable terrain where life is exquisitely precious.” ............................................................ ................................................ My latest choreographic work, "Breaking the Bones: A Plea for Tibet," photographed at the Know Tibet benefit by One Human Race 4 Justice photographer, Krystal Kinnunen. ............................................................ ...............................................Below, witness a journey that took less than two weeks, but sometimes felt like a year. The birth, the planning and the dream into reality: six passionate individuals from many different backgrounds and faiths came together as “One Human Race 4 Justice.” Our rally for Tibet took place on March 30, 2008.

"Breaking the Bones" and March 10 (and March 15)
