Badlands are Alexei Lee and Nick Moore.
Alex has been involved in music since childhood, after kicking around in a few bands, dance music grabbed him by the short and curlies and he never looked back. A few years of DJing under his belt saw him move into production as well and he’s been plying his trade for over 8 years. He co-runs the label Sinister Recordings (Home of Introspective, AMB, Rex, Sam Hell, Digitalis etc.) and also manages the acclaimed Chew the Fat night / Fat! Records (Baobinga & I.D, Unique 3, Merka, etc)
Nick was inspired by the grunge scene as a teenager to pick up a guitar, after playing in a couple of bands and realising he preferred playing with the pedals and FX than actually playing the damn thing, he put it back down and moved into production. Having worked with a few bands on material over the years, got into sampling and dance production through a love of clubbing and has been producing dance for the past 5 years. He also helps run Sinister.
They met at College, drawn together through stunningly similar tastes in music. A few hazy nights saw them inspired enough to book into a studio, the nights were too hazy to remember the inspiration and then life took over and they parted company for a while…
8 years later they suddenly remembered their inspiration and got together in the studio once again. This time it was completely different as they discovered a remarkable rapport together. The studio sessions have now come to fruition with their debut single out on Sinister on 6th August and more to follow soon after.
