I’m a recent college graduate, video fanatic and producer. I started developing a video concept that I thought would be great online. But I was troubled by the limitations the current sites out there are imposing on producers. If I put it on a social networking service I’d have to deal with low video quality, difficult to manage producer tools, and a complete lack of revenue. If I hosted it myself, I’d have to pay bandwidth costs, find advertisers, and maintain the page (not to mention finding the tools to actually serve the video). That’s when I came up for the idea for the company that I’m now running, DiDGU.
My goal with DiDGU is to provide a place for producers of every type of content to share it with an online community who wants to interact on a deeper level than is available in a comment. DiDGU is a place where video quality isn’t limited to low-quality Flash video; instead viewers can watch it from iPod quality all the way up to High Definition. Oh, and did I forget about the Money? Yeah, people who make content shouldn’t be giving it away for other companies to profit from! On DiDGU, producers are going to be getting paid for all advertiser-sponsored views of their content once we allow advertisers on the service. We believe this could be as much as $7 for every thousand views… Think about that - your clip that got 100,000 views just made you $700 on DiDGU.
I think that’s pretty fair. We pay for the hosting, give you all the tools to manage it on our site or embedded in yours, and we pay you for it when it gets watched.Hopefully you get an idea about what my company and I are about. To upload videos, go to www.didgu.com and click on upload (you have to become a member to upload, but don’t worry – it just takes a few seconds and we don’t sell your information to anyone).
