Milonga Loca - Tango Jazz Trio
Add to My Profile | More VideosThe NUEVO Tango ENSAMBLE was founded in 1999 by Pasquale Stafano’s and Gianni Iorio’s idea with the intent to propose the ASTOR PIAZZOLLA’s music.
The group has approached Astor Piazzolla’s compositions with deep admiration, undertaking a meticulous study aimed to interpret the complex music phrases and the correct sound porteño that characterize this music. The Tango Trio, winning of numerous national and International Prizes, is held by the criticism among the best interpreters of the music of the great argentinian composer Astor Piazzolla. With the project "A night for Astor", Nuevo Tango Ensamble exhibited in Europe with concerts which took place at prestigious Theaters (Paesiello in Lecce, Abeliano in Bari, Giordano in Foggia, Eliseo in Roma, Regio in Torino, Lauro Rossi in Macerata, Nymphenburg Castle in Munchen and many others) and Jazz Club (Duc Des Lombardes in Paris, La Palma and Alexander Platz in Rome, Ferrara Jazz Club, Folk Club in Turin, Maison Musique in Rivoli, Chorus in Lausanne, La Spirale in Friburg, Porgy & Bess in Vienna, Treibhaus in Innsbruk, Ueffilo in Gioia del Colle and many others) in Festivals (Dusseldorfer Jazz Rally 2006 in Dusseldorf, Warsaw Jazz Festival 2007 in Warsaw, Beat Onto Jazz 2005 in Bitonto , Tam Jazz 2007 in Pedaso, Bolzano Jazz & Other 2006, Bucarest Music Festival 2006, Fivizzano International Festival 2004, Senigallia Tango Festival, Macerata Jazz Festival, and many others). The group collaborates with international jazz players like the sax player Javier Girotto and the clarinet player Gabriele Mirabassi.

The album was produced by the prestigious jazz label PHILOLOGY.The trio is preparing new album with original compositions."…and I’m happy to say that these guys are talented enough to surprise me and please me....
I imagine, should be very difficult to apprehend for someone who was not born and raised in Buenos Aires or Montevideo.
That’s why this group amazes me. They got it so well that they sound like some of the best rioplatenses naturals. Congratulations!
Oscar López Ruiz - Piazzolla’s guitarist“[…] adding some great jazz improvisations in the middle. It is both remarkable and highly satisfying to see the group seamlessly transistion from a tango to a jazz mood, and back. In a scene where Piazzolla interpretations abound, most of which without very satisfactory results, what the Nuevo Tango Ensamble has accomplished is of great merit. To make Piazzolla sound new and interesting, understanding and respecting his music, while at the same time adding their own original ideas and interpretation. This is a rare feat deserving of our utmost respect, as well as our hope that the Nuevo Tango Ensamble continues to explore its musical vision in light of Piazzolla’s legacy. Excellent work!†– CESAR LUONGO (USA)“[…] I look forward to hearing Pasquale Stafano, Gianni Iorio, and Alessandro Terlizzi in person, as their Piazzolla presentation is so dynamic and magical.[…] Here is no doubt that Nuevo Tango Ensamble has a successful future ahead of them with future interpretations and, hopefully, original compositions, as well.†Roberta E. Zlokower (USA)
“[…]Nuevo Tango Ensamble giving the work of Piazzolla a sublimely eloquent and distinct voice, and fulfilling the great master’s wish to keep his music vibrant, alive, and evolving.†Cindy McLeod (CANADA)
Solange BAZELY (FRANCE)
