HI - I'M MAGS

I started this mypsace page in October 2006 because I'm behind SA music and I would like to see more talent on the international scene. I would like feedback from all of - comments, tell me what you like, let me know about events, concerts, secret gigs, news and more. This can be your one stop resource to find out about important information on who's up and coming on the international market.

PLEASE - WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT!

I would like to continue to invite all South Africans all over the world to share in the success of SA artists who are breaking the international scene. Please share any information, links, music or anything else you have with me. Let a buddy know what we are up to.

BAND REVIEWS

Dr Fox

One thing about Dr.Fox is that despite all of the continual changes to members, styles, influences and set-backs the band..s core members of Rod and Andrew have doggedly remained together becoming one of Durban..s longest serving rock bands around. This tenacious outfit has notched up 48 original songs since the bands inception and is continually working on new material, making the sound contemporary without totally loosing the unique identity of the individual band members or the combined creative style of the combined members. One of Durban..s best bands, the 5 piece outfit has developed a unique style that is difficult to describe as it is like nothing else on the local scene at the moment. The sound is a mix between clean ambient ethereal picky sounds punctuated with extreme change-overs of hard edged raw driven power. The lyrics are always topical and relevant to the lives or situations not only of the band but what the rest of the world finds itself in as well. Dr.Fox is headed up by Rod Nichols on Guitar, Andrew Scott on Guitar, Stash on Bass, Russel Braum on Vocals and Matt Scott on Drums.

HYPNoTRIP

Now UK based - Pete Delahaye - grew up on the East Rand and has played around with many gendres, styles and various Joberg bands. "Never Direct Me" - a debut single for the band, provides an unusual ambience and unique vocals featuring Tara J Williams - different and innovative.

KNAVE

Johannesburg based Knave prefer not be defined by a gendre, but by it's members; Chris on Vocals, Jean on Guitar,Louis on Bass, Mike on Drums - Knave deliver a powerful sound and driving single with "Diagnosis". A highly popular act that could easily be an international contenders.

FAHRENHEIT

Four piece South African pop/rock act are making waves with catchy tunes and well rounded production. With Wayne Joshua on vocals & guitar, Shai Caleb on drums & percussion, Yves Dei-Cont on Guitar and Paul McIver on vocals & bass, Fahernheit are an international act to watch!

My Blog

This weeks reviews

Well, the only thing I can really go on is number of plays & the few votes I've had in - so this week it seems HYPNoTRIP have been on top, followed by KNAVE, then GOLDFISH and FAHRENHEIT. It seems...
