Positive Melodic Hardcore

About Me

A Short Story Of Subdued Its strange how bands always start with one specific band. For Johan and Mike who got to know each other throgh drum lessons it started with 5 Star Society. They started a band in their local church but never had really big plans till they saw 5 Star. After loosing members and gaining members they started working on some ideas.
The band consisted of Johan, Mike, Lauren and Lurch (Clayton Thorp). They practiced in the living at Mike's house for a while when they got introduced to Earl. Earl joined up as drummer and they started getting 3 tracks together. After a few years of jamming at Mike's place Johan took a leave of absence due to personal reasons. The band still florished and went on strong.
A year after Johan left he returned with some new talents and plans but due to the conflict of interest in music it didnt quite work out the way he had hoped. December 2002 was where Johan and Mike started speaking bout reforming the band since Lauren and Earl had left. After much discussions and gaining new influences they placed adds for a guitarist. During Feb 2003 they held met up with Juan who was very interested in joining. They started messing around and just found common ground with style ideas, when Rob walked in. So the band was formed with 2 guitarists, a drummer and vocalist. But their was an emptyness in the band. They went out to find Lurch and Earl since Mike went to vocals. When they got the final members in the band was completed.
After the first show with the infamous Not Guilty and Sidearm66 they said goodbye to Rob and Lurch. They found new bassist Nathan and quickly set out with the new found style of music. Johan moved to join Mike on vocals. They soon played up a storm sharing the stage with bands like Tonight We Die, Sidesrm66, Ghost, Afterburn, VOL and The Doppler Effect to name but a few. During the few years they played they called on Dave, A friend of Nate, to manage the band. They played at the Mercury Live and Lounge and featured in the White Horse Sessions. During the last 6 months after the White Horse Sessions Earl and Juan said goodbye to the band. They where stuck in quicksand trying to recover from the sudden blow. Nate moved to guitars and they got a new bassist named Roscoe. They played around with new ideas but it wasnt the same. They got a new drummer, Matt, who was with them till about January Febuary of 2006. In the time they wrote 4 new songs and just before they decided to break out into the scene again, Matt decided to leave as well. They immediatly started auditioning to find a suitable replacement but none fit the profile they looked for.
By April 2006 Johan met up with Mike and discussed the situation with him. Mike then agreed to try drums as a last resort and quickly got into the swing of things. They quickly strarted writing songs like mad with influences from Demon Hunter to 36 Crazyfists, Trivium to Children of Bodom, Ligeia to Dry Kill Logic. They broke back into the scene on the 4th of August 2006 with a pre-battle of the bands show. They participated at the Parklands Battle of the Bands on the 5th of August with Infanteria, Eulogy, Kungfunk, Inersia and more. After that show the buzz started. Then they got asked to participate at the Thumbs Up 2 in Sept. With a basic 2 track demo/single and some stickers they set out to make their name.
Durning the 2006/2007 summer holidays they sat down and started working on their recordings. Laying down tracks and everything went extremely well. The 23 of February saw the launch of their website featuring support by Infanteria and Jaydid. In March they featured in the Death Of Pop; played the Dual Bedlam with The Horror Cast, Infanteria, Marching Dead and old friends Tonight We Die; and on the 31st of March they had the oppertunity to play with Antipathy and Wickhead. And this is where the story continues. What lies ahead...? Only God knows.
